Our appliances went into our home new in 2008. We have a GE washer and dryer that I am happy enough with. Likewise the Monogram wall oven. The dishwasher(also a Monogram) is a source of aggrevation with me on occasion-the only reason I got it was because I too got a great deal on it. However, if I had to do it all over again, I would have spent the extra money and gotten something else...when it dies, I will not be replacing it with the same model.

Moose, What is it that you don't like about the Monogram DW? I'm about to have one installed.

I've had the Monogram Advantium (have to think it's not different from the GE ones, just prettier) and the warming drawer in use for a few weeks. So far they seem just fine.

Generally, I wouldn't suggest getting a whole suite of appliances, but rather get the best in your range for each purpose. If you're going to get all one brand, I suspect GE and Miele are probably the best on all around performance. Maybe the BSH brands. Most companies don't do all things well. They have things they're good and bad at. I don't know anyone who has a GE washer or dryer, but I think I've heard people pretty satisfied with versions of the rest.

Thanks moose and plllog-good advice, my first choices are not the GEs just trying to save some $ but don't want to regret this later. Everyone I speak to about the Bosch DWs love them. Would be interested to hear your complaint on the DW too moose.

I haven't been on GW for a while, but you used to be able to do a search for Monogram dishwashers and come up with some information(including from me). Anyways, here are some of my observations.
Things I like about my dishwasher:
-I got it for a great price
-It is really, really quiet. Sometimes when I have it fully loaded I don't even realize that it is on once it gets past the "fill-up"
-When I load it properly and use Cascade(I recently used Finish and that was a disaster)the dishes are nice and clean

Things I dislike:
-I find that in order for my dishes to get the cleanest I have to load them into the back left hand racks. Those space them properly and the water has a chance to get at them. In the front, sometimes they flop over and the food will stick to the plates that won't space evenly.
-With my old Kenmore dw, I used to be able to cram it full of dishes, barely scrape them and everything would come clean. This dishwasher requires a thorough scraping, especially thick, saucey leftover. If I cram it full and some of things I put in are messy, I will find leftovers on my glasses and such.
-unless they have just been used for breakfast cereal or a light soup, bowls will not come clean. When I make minestrone or any other thicker soup, some of it just gets left behind or even transfers onto the back of the bowl in front of it(the plates will do this as well if not scraped thoroughly).
All in all, its not a bad dw, it's just not a great one. It does come with a bit of a learning curve. I would rate it as a 7 out of 10

For what its worth I went to a reputable appliance store recently and they quoted me the almost everything GE- Warming Drawer, Monogram frige, monogram range, etc. but they specifically said they didnt like DW from Monogram and suggested Bosch.

I have almost all Monogram appliances. Here is my take...

Do NOT get a Monogram dishwasher. There are numerous reports of malfunction (I am talking fire) . I have gone through 3 touchpads and had the leaking steam generator split my wood panel in half. Not to mention, they don't actually clean your dishes either. I have to prewash everything and use the DW pretty much fro sterilization at this point. Go for a Miele. They are the best in their class. I spent $1400 on this thing and I am tossing it this summer. I can't in good conscience even give it away.

My range is the 36 inch DF with grill. Three years ago, it was made by DCS and rebranded. Although I LOVE LOVE LOVE my range, I don't think DCS is making Monogram anymore. Try to find out which brand is actually making your rangetop and go from there.

My Advantium 240 is great but also having had 2 touchpad issues. I am at the point where I can replace these suckers by myself so repairs are cheaper.

I also have the wine fridge which is great and a trash compactor. The trash compactor motor died after 2 years but they replaced it for free since I freaked out on them. That was a rebranded Kitchen Aid compactor.

I don't have any other appliances to help you but please heed my warning on the dishwasher. One nice thing about Monogram is that the warranties are better than the plain GE appliances. They cover more for longer (that's what my appliance repair guy said. I am on first names with these guys at this point.)

Definately will heed the warning on the DW. The guy that started DCS left because the partners wanted to sell. He started Capital which is why I am thinking of going with it.

dolci58, can you give me any information on how your builder got 40% off on monogram? I am about to buy a 36 inch range and hood (GE is giving a $1000 rebate) but that's not as good as 40%. The appliance store I'm working with quoted me 6700 for range and 1800 for hood.

Although they are not in yet, most of my new appliances are GE Monogram, except for DW, because I learned a lot through this forum about GE-DW. Mine is Bosch and the appliance store guy said it is one of the best and his customers like it. Miele or Bosch seems to be a good choice. Good luck.
