Getting soaked!! Help!

My starter home is fabulous. However, there is no shelter for coming in through the front door. We live in Oregon and being that it rains here 9 months a year - my welcome mat is always SOAKED! What are some ideas to build to cover the front entryway that also gives it extra curb appeal? I'm partial to craftsman style but I also don't want to overdo it on my simple little house. Comments appreciated!

I think all you need is a small portico entrance.

Do you think I'll have to follow the same lines as the roof or would a straight portico look strange because it would be off-set?

I think it would look best "extended" to your window and follow the roof line for a symetrical look. This will really give your entrance some wow.

Your house is so pretty! We had that problem and had an awning installed. They come in every color imaginable, they can be backlit, and an awning is an inexpensive solution. We had ours installed almost 20 years ago, and the awning still looks great. When we sold the house, the realtor said the awning was one of the main reasons the buyer loved the house.

Bobbi that is gorgeous, that's probably the cheaper option too as its less material. Im also surprised it wasnt built in knowing full well it rains that much (dear its worse than in the UK rain-wise!).

Thanks guys! Yeah, I don't know why the original builder didn't do something about the front area. It's a huge area and could have easily supported a porch but I don't have the funds for that sort of project.

I have a few ideas. How about installing an arbor Either wrought iron or wood and paint it white. Or have a greenhouse affect Or put a greenhouse entry addition. My mother did the latter To her moderan built home she added it to the front of her home and it was beautiful

i agree with the arbor around front entrace and also install a shallow arbor over garage as well

There is a plexiglass cover for the top. The white gutter along the front blends in, so you almost can't see it.

I would put a rain chain on the lower edge and break up a round hole in your patio for a drainage ditch. (The gutter should pitch away from the corner of the house.)
