A summer watermelon

Decided I should make something to celebrate the summer season since I really don't have many summer things. I cut out and painted this little watermelon. Sorry I don't take better pics, always seem to get a glare. Anyway, thought you might enjoy seeing it. Luvs

How cute. I never would have thought to cut the wooden leaves. What a neat touch. I love watermelon. I can eat a whole one by myself if I would let myself!

luvs... You did a great job cutting out and painting the little watermellon!! It has a nice 'country' look, which I like very much. Looking at it kind of makes me sad, that the summer is over and all these bright and cheerful things will be put away till next year.. Especially eating fresh watermellon!! LOL

It is really adorable. And you can leave it till the 21st cause it is still SUMMER!!!
    Very clever you are, Luvs!

Very nice Luvs, so pretty 'n pink! Is it wood that you make it out of and do you actually cut using a saw? Now, that is talent! Smart of you to make things for next year, you will be surprised when you get out your summer decorations.

Super Cute, Luvs. Especially all the little wood leaves, what a great touch to this piece. You're just so darn talented with a paint brush!!

Glad you enjoyed seeing it, was just something fun to do. I enjoy playing with my saw and paints!

Yesterday, I painted up four little signs to use as gifts. I still need to put the sealer on them, then I'll share a pic of them.

I'm just all over the place with my choices right now. Just been going through my old pattern books and mags and trying to do some of the projects I've had earmarked.

Maybe the next one will be for Fall.

I think the sunflower just makes it so neat!! I wouldn't have thought of leaves, that's so cute. Are they all around the handle or just part way? Jan

Luvs, you are such a talented artist! You should start a blog on all your art, there are alot of people who really would love to see your goodies in Blogland!

LOL, Judith, I don't think painted items are as popular anymore--we can't even get the Painting forum here very active--two of us visit there almost daily, and we do have a few others who stop by once in awhile.
Besides, I am not at all talented in the computer skills department and not in photography either, so that's not a winning combination for a blog! LOL

Sunnyca and Jaybird, thanks for your nice comments. I actually have a nice little watermelon chilling in the fridge too, Jaybird. Can't wait to have a nice big slice today! LOL

    Luvs,

There are alot of Blogs with painting items for sale, the KEY I think is that the majority are the shabby chic roses, with pinks, blues and teals, the roses/flower and the colors seem to be selling like hotcakes. These ladies appear to be very successful. IMHO you are right on par, if not better than a majority of them, I think you would do great! But doing a blog is a lot of work, and you are right about the computer skills when it comes to the "selling" part (palpay etc) I don't have the foggest idea either LOL. You don't do bad with your camera either, the key is good lighting (easy actually, I like using natural light and a floor type spot light from lowes, and that is all I use for my pics) and a tripod.

Luvs, here is an example, she sells alot of painted items, especially popular is painted cupcakes, but I have seen her do beautiful "painted crowns" with painted flowers (very popular too)and she uses the brush strokes that you use in your work to I beleive. I used to have more favorites listed but when my computer crashed I lost all my Favs!

I hadn't ran across that first one, but I absolutely drooled the first time I saw the painted cupcakes, ice cream cones, and teapots/teacups the 2nd lady does. She really has a nice touch for making them look extra special.

I love painting the roses and that shabby chic look, but only a little of it fits in my decor at home. I do want to follow her lead and try my hand at painting some of the food items for gifts. Wouldn't they be darling on a kitchen tree of some kind? You are right, this type of painting does seem to still have a following, and some of the Prim style items do also. Thanks for sharing those links.

Oh, and since I know you love cupcakes, have you seen these yet? Love them too!

Wow, no, I had not seen those before, they are really pretty, I know I would never have the patience to make them my self! Those would look pretty hanging from a tree too.
I know you could do some wonderful things. The wood cup cake painted items would look so pretty as a gift tag too on a package, then one could hang it on the tree.
