White or stainless DW?

I keep going back and forth on this issue. We're going with a white kitchen and I thought stainless might be a nice contrast. However, we currently have a s/s Bosch that's a huge PIA to clean. I loathe it! Not only that but it's been a lemon from day one and I am so ready to be done with it.

I heard or read somewhere (maybe here) that the stainless steel on the Miele's are easier to clean. I'm thinking there was something mentioned about the texture and quality of the s/s Miele uses.

Any suggestions?

What is there to clean other than wiping the surface once
in a while?? Being a lemon doesn't have anything to do with
the finish. For me, yes, I would get stainless steel to add
some contract if your countertops are going to be white also.
If you have some contract in your countertops, I would get
whatever finish I wanted as it's pretty much a personal preference.

A few months ago I saw a white kitchen featured in a magazine and one of the first things that stood out to me was the white DW (Miele, IIRC). While we've gotten accustomed to seeing SS in high end kitchens over the years, this kitchen certainly leaned towards high end and the white looked great.

What is there to clean other than wiping the surface once in a while??

I suppose the same could be said for fridges, ovens, microwaves, coffee makers and anything else stainless that doesn't really get touched but manages to highlight smudges, water marks and fingerprints a couple hours after its last cleaning.

Just my opinion of course, but I'm happy every time I see a featured kitchen with less stainless. It's becoming more common.

I put a stainless Bosch in my white kitchen. I certainly don't hate it, but if I had it to do over again I would go with a white finish.

Since I've completed my kitchen I've seen white kitchen pics with the white DW, and I prefer it. My fridge, range, hood and microwave are all stainless. I don't think it would detract from the up-to-date look to have had the DW white.

The people here at GW have convinced me that everything doesn't have to be matchy, and that the most important person to please in your design is yourself.

There is another current thread around here, perhaps a few pages back named Miele Dw or something like that. In that thread there is a link to the news release announcing the Miele DWs to be released in NA this year. This release mentions a treatment Miele is using on their SS to prevent fingermarks, marks and such.

My plan ws for white cabinets, stainless cooking appliances, but wasn't sure about the DW. We put white in with white cabinets in the last house because we weren't sure if we were going to replace the other appliances and decided white would blend in with the cabinets and fit either way. Here, I was leaning towards stainless at first, but I was already wondering if I would like the "dark spot" int eh white base cabinets when we decided to put in a second DW. No question then -- I did not want two stainless panels or dark spots" and went back to white. In fact, I went all the way to white cabinet panels.
