Backyard Halloween

Here's Mr. Bones. My husband came home with him about 5 or 6 years ago. I nearly dropped dead at the price, but as all you Enablers can imagine, welcomed him with open arms.

We have two glass doors that look out onto the patio (makes the small family room feel larger) and so I like to decorate out back too. I didn't know if I should add him on to Yachter's Outdoor Halloween decorations for convenience sake or start a new post. I need someone to tell me what the proper etiquette is in such a situation. Anyway, I flipped a coin and new post won.

I think many of you might appreciate the story of the giant pumpkin that sits in the back flower bed. I bought him when foamy, reuable pumpkins first came out (at least 10 years ago, I think). While I was waiting in line to purchase him, I heard a male voice say over my should, "Lady, what I want to know is, what are you going to do with him the other eleven months of the year?"

Love it! Great candelabras and chandy! LOL, on the pumpkin! I have been known to buy MANY of things when it is a good sale, and I am often asked what are you going to do with all that...I tell them that when I kick off there will be the mother of all garage sales, LOL!

Great decorating, you have a great tablesetting just waiting to happen, so cool that your hubby sees the fun in things and has purchased the skelaton for your home. I've seen those candle operas, they are very cool, I hope to get some during "clearence time".
That's a cute story about how you got your original pumpkin and the fellows comment.

As for your question about posting your own thread or adding to a thread already, well, I think we are pretty laid back here. I know sometimes I will post in an ongoing thread and sometimes I just choose to start my own.

Your back yard looks really nice too!

Oh my gosh, Mr Bones is just soooo cool. What a good DH to bring this guy home. I love your backyard and your patio, and how you've decorated.

Yeah, we are laid back here. The advantage to starting a new post is sometimes folks see it faster, and those with "dial up death" don't have to wade thru old photos that take them so long. But we just do whatever to share pictures here, so don't worry about it.

Mr. Bones is just too cool! Excellent staging, and wonderful table too...

I love your pumpkin too - do you just turn him around for thanksgiving decor? :-)

oldalgebra, love your outdoor setting. Are the candelabras strictly for Halloween, or do you use them year-round? Mr. Bones is a great addition to your table. I love that your DH is on the same page with decorating! Mine not so much. LOL

Oh VERY COOL!!!! I luv it! Your yard is beautiful too, do you live in a warm climate too?

I feel like the Lone Ranger here, other than Judith & myself, I think everyone else lives in nice, sunny climates! Oh, Kathleen is on the east coast too, but she is near the ocean, so that doesn't count!!!

For the newbies, I HATE WINTER, LOVE SUMMER & 90's, just in case some of the newbies didn't know that, (but live in the horrible midwest with the worst winters)!!

    Purplemoon,
Where do you get things like "dial up death," "I'm on the wrong side of 60," and "Enablers R Us?" You're a crack up!

    Work in Progress,
Yes, I only use the candelabras for Halloween. Like Kathleen (and, I suspect, most of you), I do a lot of after-season shopping and picked them up in an after-Halloween Sale. I eyed them for two Halloweens before I got them. The big hidden bonus is that they come apart and store flat. Those puppies are heavy! If one dropped on your head, you'd be 6 feet under, but that's advantageous for outside if a sudden gust of wind comes up.

    Yacht,
Yes, I live in Southern California where we pretend it's fall. I was raised in northern California and think there should be a least some rain in the autumn months.

OA, your Mr. Bones is "to die for"!! Love that you have him holding a bottle and having a cigar. The colours of orange, black and white together are so striking in your pic. Your patio table and chairs, chandelier and candelabras and your yard are terrific. Maybe with your pumpkin/jack-o-lantern being so big, you ony need one (?) so you actually use less storage (I know, if you are like most of us you say "Ha!" to that).

I agree with what everyone else said, it is just fantastic. Love the way your skeleton is holding the bottle and has the cigar, just great humor.

I'm in So. Ca. too, Rancho Cucamonga, to be exact. Are you anywhere near me? Didn't you get the nice gentle rain on Saturday? We really needed it.

OA, I can't take credit for "dial up death". I hear that all the time on the forums.

And for you Newbies, I'm the opposite of Yachter...
I HATE SUMMER in PHX, & LOVE WINTER HERE (sweater weather LOL)

    Luvstocraft,

Am I near you? OMG, I'm in Upland. It's a small world.

That's my first       ^      text abbrevoation ever.

Too funny, OA. How cool that you are in an adjoining city. I've just sent you an email. ;o) Luvs

Wow! Once again, I'm amazed by the wonderful decorations I see on this forum!

With some of the symbols that surround Mr Bones, it might almost say "see what will happen to you if you smoke or drink alcohol" lol.
