Adding to existing tile

Hi,

I am relatively new to this forum and need some advice. We are restoring our 1940's pink bathroom. I want to add a tile design to the existing tile. I want to create a decorative border that would continue up the wall from the pink tiles already in place. Has anyone done this type of project?
