Need lots of help with the exterior of my house, I don't know where to start!

How can I make this house look better? I need to replace the old wood siding with stucco. I would really like to use wood and stone also but don't know how. I also need to add an entry gate where the black gate is located on the left of the house so that guests recognize where the entrance is and so I have more privacy also. The front door is in the rear where the deck is located. The deck is also getting updated.

Nice modern house. I'm OK with the siding it has, do you need to change to stucco? I do not like the green exterior walls or green driveway surface. I'd paint the green walls the same as the wall on left of garage (light gray?) The driveway surface I'd paint a deeper gray or have driveway resurfaced in something more attractive. I'd keep the landscape design modern. Remove the trellis and plant from the planter to left of garage and fill with black smooth stones. Garbage cans etc remove. Have a crew trim the existing shrubs, trees & add some shrubs that cascade to soften the wall above the garbage cans (see photo). Can a front door be added next to the garage where the planter is? I'd remove all pots & plants, keep the unpainted wall as it is for a focal point and add large house numbers to the unpainted stone wall (see photo). Submit other photos when the deck is updated.

Here's what I was thinking. Start a flat roof in the front of your garage and wrap it around to the front door. Make it well lit and inviting with natural wood ceiling. You could tie it in with the wood above the garage door ie. make it the same height and thickness. Where the entrance door is located put up a wall or screen or garden gate for privacy on the patio.

I agree with a smooth textured material to replace the horizontal siding, and perhaps adding some architectural details to enhance the roof line since this is the only thing people see from the curb.

Thank you for your responses and suggestions!

@j222b I totally agree with painting the ugly green wall and a new driveway and like the idea of large numbers on the wall. I am planning on possibly removing the wall and adding an entry gate there. See link below. Do you have any ideas for what type of plants/bush I should put in the planter?
@Dar Eckert I think your idea is nice but probably way out of my price range, but it is definitely my style.
@Dytecture funny that you chose a photo of a home in a neighboring town. Yes that is the type of stucco I am interested in.

The wood siding is falling apart in some parts of the house and we are hoping that smooth stucco will help make the house look more appealing and maybe adding stone around the bottom of the house? I think the grey and white combo is too cool and boring for me, I like warmer colors and something with a little more pop.. I imagine the house in a taupe or green with a dark grey or wood trim. A faux wood garage door or glass door (but probably too expensive) and painting under the roof overhang a dark red color. I just don't know how this will look. I imagine the planter and part of the wall behind planter to be covered either in river rock to blend with the area I live in or do you suggest a different stone or none at all? I really want to add charm to the house.

I was thinking of a entry gate in the link below with pillars covered with stone, but would choose a different stone.

I also attached photos of ideas we have for the deck.

Do you know of any software programs I can buy to help me with design that are easy to use?

Thoughts on your house: Don't use a lot of different materials.

If you're placing stone on lower house, either match the stone of mailbox or re-do mailbox. I'd stick with taupe or off white for stucco, not green. Have the privacy door in the same wood you choose for house trim & columns in stone that is repeated from house. If you do not know how something will look, don't do it (roof overhand in dark red). Look through Houzz for exterior ideas. Best to stick with neutral and not be too innovative on house. If you are having stone on lower house, match the planter and wall's stone to that same stone, I wouldn't add another type of stone. I'd hire an architect / design professional for these types of major changes. You want it to look good when you're done! For planter I'd have stones inside and no plants. If you really want plants, do not over-do especially if you are adding decorative stone to the wall / planter. You do not want to hide the new stone feature. I'd choose a beautifully shaped Japanese-oriental-garden style tree for the center of planter set in the smooth river stones.

Looks pretty fine to me...maybe a storage shed for the containers?

Thanks j222b, my intentions were to keep the same stone throughout the house, the gate, including the mailbox too and to match the wood also. I was thinking of a japanese garden tree as well. The green and stone I was thinking of is similar to the photo linked below. Thank you for your input.

It seems to be a grayed green paint b/c they have grayed green in their stone. Depends on the stone you choose. I would have preferred a mid to dark gray even on this house. Unless you are getting a new roof, the roof on your house must enter the equation, too. Their roof is similar to the stone.

Choose the stone and wood trim first. Then choose a paint that harmonizes with the new wood trim & roof & window's trim. The paint should match one of the stone's colors. I'd choose a dull muddy color from the stone for the paint. Let the stone trim and wood trim be the divas, not the stucco's paint color.
