Curved modern cabinets?

I really like the curved modern look and found a source for two Italian lines. Everytime I find something I like its from Italy.

http://www.altamareabath.it/

and

http://www.novello.it/prodotti/max/max01-e.html

I'm bracing for the sticker shock and wondering which American companies sell similar products..

Anyone?

Start with Snaidero, Nova Linea, and Val Cucina. Studio Becker also has a lot of curved doors. Duravit may have something and it readily available state side.

    Good luck!

I can't think of a local manufacturer. I only other person I can suggest is Irpinia which is a canadian company.

    Good luck!

rerod - radiused, coopered, or curved cabinetry is very difficult to produce, is quite expensive and not in high demand.

Hence, there are not a lot of firms doing this type work, and you should expect to pay a premium when you find some one who does do it.

Hm, maybe try one of the high end private cabinetmakers around your area. If one of them can do it, that way you'd be supporting the *local* economy, not even just the US. What area are you in? The right company might not be even online...some cabinetmakers get all the business they need without a web presence. Calls for some local detective work :)

Man, you don't know how much I wish I did the kind of work you're looking for! A client who insists on good quality work made in the United States!

However, I do have some suggestions for you. Steve Holman in Vermont does work that just cannot be believed. The link at the bottom will take you to a blog I wrote on his kitchen which had a lot of rounds in it and was incredibly innovative while still being a wood kitchen that would never grow tired, as so much of the "trendy" stuff tends to do. I don't know if he would be interested in doing a bathroom, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to give him a try.

Since you probably don't live in Mr. Holman's area, you would have to make some kind of arrangements to have the cabinetry boxed and shipped to your area and then installed by a local craftsman. But that sort of thing can be doneÂand is actually done all the time. We just don't notice it so much.

If you buy ABC cabinets from Big Box store, those cabinets will be made in a central factory, shipped to your location, and installed by a local craftsman. The same would be true if you purchased any of the cabinetry mentioned by a previous commentator. I've written about some of those companies, and you're right; they are European. But, again, if you elected to go with them, the cabinetry would be made in Europe and shipped to the United States for installation by a local craftsman.

Finally, you might want to shake the vines a bit in your area and see what you can find in the way of a local cabinetmaker who does the kind of work you're looking for. Most of them will want to do European-style cabinetry because it's quick and cheap to make, but there are a handful of woodworkers who are highly skilled artists who want to do something out of the ordinary. Coopered doors appeal to people like that.

You can also check your local colleges with woodworking departments or anyone who teaches woodworking skills. Good luck with your search.

"Most of them will want to do European-style cabinetry because it's quick and cheap to make"

    Joseph -

This is absolutely untrue. It might be the norm in your neighborhood but not everywhere. There are crappy face frame cabinets being made in the USA everyday. There are also really good ones to. Euro construction is more EFFICIENT but quality and price is based on material selection and execution skill not the type of cabinetry being selected. Better material and skill command better prices.

Spoke with Amy Medeiros-Tanti , Worst company ever. Wanted to charge 14k to replace two shelves and extend a gable so we could install a coffee machine. Minor stuff! They then expected us to do all the removal of the old shelves. Once we saw the quote for the little they were doing we said forget it. They kept our deposit ($1200) for 5 minutes worth of work (measuring) then said too bad on your deposit you signed a waver. These guys are brutal and rude. Avoid a all costs.
