My Fall decor

My table will be different for Thanksgiving, but I got tired of looking at it empty, so threw out a few things Sunday. Probably the only thing new is the placemats, they are Crate & Barrel, new from a garage sale, four for $4.00.

Everything looks good. I love the big vase on the mantel, is it glass or metal?

"A few things?" You've added quite a few really pretty things! They looks great, Yachter! Fall decs really do brighten up the place, don't they? Your small hay bale (at least, that's what i think it is) was a great idea. Did you make your pretty pumpkin/squash topiaries yourself? That's a cute idea! Happy Autumn!

Love the leaf placemats! YS finds? - lucky you! Love the topiaries - if you made them please give instructions. I also like the veggie garland on the table - did you make that?

While I've seen your wall before I don't think I've ever mentioned how much I love seeing such unique and creative decor. Very nice.

I love it all! I had forgotten your neat faux "crumbling" wall. That is so cool. I see you have some of the Dollar Tree pumpkins. I get so many cute things there.

    Great buy on the placemats.
Did you make the little gourd garland on your table?
It's very nice, seems you can do alot with it too.
Also, I like the vignette on your kitchen counter.
Everything looks very festive for Thanksgiving.

I don't know how I missed this yesterday, Yachter. I like all that you have done. I also see some neat pillows on your couch. I ordered two and they sent the wrong ones, so I am just going to make a couple from cheetah print, if I ever get around to it.

I see your elephants have their trunks up for good luck.

Those are great-looking pumpkin topiaries. What a nice touch.

The center piece of your mantle display is gorgeous!

It all looks great, Yachter. I'm loving your pumpkin topiaries and the veggie garland. Tell us if you made them yourself or were they another of your great finds? Luvs

Very pretty, Yacht. I'm especially loving your dining table centerpiece with those stacked pumpkins. WOW.
The colors on them are really wonderful I think.

Lynn, yes it's a haybale, also yard sale find, think I paid .50 for it last year.

Syble, the big vase is glass, I got it & about 5 others last year at the same garage sale, the lady was moving & had 3 tables of things that matched my decor.

To all, no I did not make the topiaries, I also found them at the same sale where I got all the vases last year, but used them in the bay window last year, paid around $3 for both of them.

Lee, there is a subdivision up north of us, huge, maybe 250 to 300 homes participate in the sales, these are mansions and it is packed when they have the sales.

It was late in the afternoon, almost time for them to be over & we stopped at a house, they had a huge picture of leopards and 4 smaller coordinating pictures, a mirror with animal print that matched & those pillows. They were asking $65 for the large picture & I ended up getting all the pictures, the mirror & the pillows all for $65!!!!!

I was thrilled, I've added 2 more pillows this year from yard sales, they are in the corner of the sofa & right below the large leopard picture, it looks good when you see it all together.

Anyway, thanks for the compliments, most of the things are from last year & other years, just moved them around to other areas to change the look of things.

Here is the picture of my bargain haul from last year, some of you are new & hadn't seen it, I posted it last fall here. I think I got all these for $23 if I'm remembering correctly. The lady was moving out of state & was practically giving them to me!

    Yachter,

I love yard sales too but don't have time to do much of that with my large yard. Thanks for posting all your goodies you got such a good buy on. I smiled while reading your post knowing you were smiling while telling about this and remembering the excitement all over again.

You have some very nice decorations and I really like the squash arrangement. Love all the different colors on the part of it facing out. Looks like some of mine that wasn't exposed. I agree with everything the others have said and TFS.

It all looks very nice, Yauchter. I love the stacked pumpkin centerpiece, and the one on the glass topped table, and that pumpkin dish (bowl?) on the counter. Very nice. - Gail

Oh! Your finds from last year are wonderful. They are all pretty, but the tortoise shell finished pieces are grand, especially the largest vase.

I do miss garage and tag sales and auctions. You never know what you will find.

Love all the amber glass, don't you just love when you find a sale like that. It reminds me of something my DS said about something wonderful he found " I thought it was a mirage" LOL, DH and I say that now all the time when we find a deal.

Syble, I had my 6 year old grandson with me that day, I bought a few things & then left the sale, kept thinking about all those pieces & turned around & went back & bought more! I think he thought I was crazy!

Yes, those kinds of sales are once a summer, don't find those with such a haul too often!! It was like a MIRAGE! LOL

Don't know how this wound up on this thread. I have been having trouble all week here on the forum. Operator error, I suspect.

    I need a keeper! lol (?)

    Oh Yacht,

I finally hit the bed late last night and logged in and got to see more of your neat house! DH was asleep and I couldn't see the keyboard well enough by 'screen light' to post last night.

WOW! I love how you've deorated. You MUST go back and show us a shot of the leopard picture and especially the mirror with the animal print. I can't imagine it in my head. Gotta SEE!!

I have been hunting and gathering things for a tropical tablesetting and BOY could I accessorize borrowing from your house!!!

That sofa looked so inviting I wanted to lay down and pull that afghan up over me and snatch those pillows and settle in. Is the arrangement on the coffeetable in a box? I love the look, but these old eyes need to be checked for a stronger pair of glasses!
Love the shot of purple you added in there. Karen is wearing off on me!

Did you make the arrangement in the pumpkin on the side table? It is unique. Especially love the "Fur-Baby" arrangement in that shot!

The mantel is soooo pretty. Just drop-dead gorgeous. Love the colors you put together there.

You did good with those pumpkin topiaries! What a beautiful fall feeling they give. So unusual. I LOVE everything on the whole table.

As usual, you always make a pretty vignette on the corner of your counter. I'm so glad you shared the remodel details with us earlier and how you can get more 'bang for your buck' by pulling the 2 rooms together with your decorating. You have a beautiful home.

You are truly "THE QUEEN" of yardsales. And you display all of your finds so beautifully. I have serious candle-envy. You find some of the prettiest ones I've ever seen. If we lived closer I would always be at your door borrowing a "cup-a-candles"!! LOL

Yachter, you didn't tell me if you made or bought that cute garland on your table? Inquiring minds wanna know--it is so cute and I've never seen one like it. ;o) Luvs

Betty, thank you for all the compliments, our house is nothing compared to the new, big, beautiful ones I see one here, but we've tried to update & modernize our 60's ranch home.

The arrangement on the coffee table is a small animal print chest & I think I stole that idea from Tam from last winter, she did a small chest with a Christmas scene in it!

The pumpkin arragement on the end table was also a yard sale find a few years ago, I thought it was so pretty too, can't imagine why the lady sold it, I've used it every year since I bought it.

The fur-baby in the shot would be our old gal Freckles, our cocker spaniel, that is her favorite place to recline or under the table, she likes the floor by the front door, as she seems to be hot all the time, must be her "change"! LOL

I wish you all lived near me, the sales here are unbelievable. Friends will tell me they are looking for something & within a week or two I will find it for them at a yard sale & usually brand new or like new for about one tenth of the retail price.

In the spring, from about April thru June, entire subdivisions will hold their annual sales. You can go to a sub and just park & walk from house to house, some with over 50 homes participating in the event.

Most who have them in their garages, have them so arranged that you think you're in a department store, it's really so neat!

I LOVE candles & have not had to buy any in stores for years. You cannot believe how many people sell brand new candles at their sales and the prices I pay are usually between .50 and $1.00 each, even for the big Yankee type candles.

Last year I bought two boxes of fall candles, all brand new, the 21 oz. jar candles, 6 in a box for $5.00. One was pumpkin spice & the other mulled cider. I am burning a pumpkin spice one right now.

I asked why they were selling them & the man said his wife bought them on a trip one time & they were moving & didn't feel like packing all those candles.

    Lucky me!!!

Oh, I will try to remember to take some pics of the animal print items in my livingroom. I did try one time, but the glare from the glass on the frames makes it hard to get good photos. I'll try to get my son to take them with his "expensive" camera that does alot more than my little Kodak Easy Share! LOL

LUVS, no I didn't make that fall garland, you should know better, YES again, YARD SALE FIND! LOL LOL
I actually saw another one this year & passed on it, figured one was enough. You all need to tell me what you want & I can pick things up for you & mail them!!! If I had known I would have bought it & sent it to you!

Again, thanks all, I can't imagine what all this decor would have cost me at retail price!! I LOVE yard sales!!
