A freezer should be around 0F. Fridge section should be around 38F. 28F means very soft ice cream.

I beg to differ on the ice cream aspect. There is nothing soft about the ice cream in my freezer-it is quite hard and everything else is rock solid! Could it be that my recommended setting sticker setting and temp display say one thing and the reality of it is something else?

thank you Weedmeister for replying. Upon another inspection of the sticker in my fridge this morning, I noticed that mine is in Farenheit and my SIL's was in Celcius. I just assumed that because mine was bought in Canada, it would be Celcius too. Oh well, you know what they say about the word "assume"....

-2°C, 28.4°F is below freezing, but that's not sufficient. For long-term and proper storage of frozen items, a freezer should be 0°F and never get above 5°F.

If you are unsure whether to believe the appliance's settings, place a reliable/accurate thermometer in the freezer as a cross-reference.
