Just enjoying this forum so much and posting a few comments & pics lately. I was so inspired by seeing all the gorgeous fall decor that I wanted to share some pics with you of my ceramic pheasants. They are on the mantle in our family room and I never move them (ah, a hit & miss dust...so pardon that!) ... but next yr. they will grace the dining room table for Thanksgiving! Thanks for all the sharing of ideas on this forum!

I made these in a ceramic class back in the mid 70's ... a get-away from home project for me after having our youngest child...it was fun!

While the greenware was wet, the teacher taught how to lift up the feathers...then later weeks I painted, antiqued, etc. I participated in ceramics for a couple yrs. (way back then) & this pair of pheasants was a surprise Christmas gift for DH. Hope you enjoy! Jeanne S. p.s. Wow! These are not the typical ceramics class birds!! You are very talented and should get back into ceramics. These are like works of art.....gorgeous!!

Jeanne, those are wonderful--you really did a wonderful job on the painting. Bet they've been up there on your mantel all this time and it never even crossed your mind that they would go wonderfully as part of a table centerpiece! That's what's so wonderful about these forums, everyone shares ideas and we discover new ways to use things. Please don't make us wait a whole year--you can do a Fall/Winter tablescape with them now. They look great with the pinecones and greenery--you could even sprinkle on a little snow and maybe add a small nest with eggs in it--am I motivating you to do a tablescape with them? Sure hope so! ;o)

Jeanne, your pheasants are wonderful. Especially the fact you made them so long ago, lots of memories there I bet!

They are incredible, and the method of lifting the feathers add SO much! I love pheasants, and these are among the nicest I have ever seen. The fact that you made them is even more special.

Hand-made things are so special and those pheasants are beeeeautiful to boot. You did a great job painting them. Things are quiet at the GJ forum, I guess it's winter and plus the holidays keep us so busy. I have a whole shed of GJ to work on this winter, guess that means Jan or Feb.
