More Grout issues - help again please

The tile guys are here finishing up, etc. They don't have any epoxy grout. The large tile store doesn't either but they've referred me to another tile store. All are saying its ok to use regular grout and just seal it properly.

I am very concerned about the grout on the vanity getting icky which is why I thought epoxy grout was the way to go. Sanded or unsanded - and epoxy grout I didn't think was such a big issue. What do I have them to? It will have very tiny grout line and it will be sealed. I'm alittle hyper about this - I did the creama marfil 12x12's thinking the epoxy grout would solve the grout issues. Ideas' or suggestions? Another tile store is calling a rep to see but I'm uncertain what to do.

Notice I turn to you all for the opinion - not the tile store nor the tile guy. You all are the best. Of all things grout is the issue.

Look on your receipt. Did they charge you for epoxy grout? Did the installer base his price on using epoxy grout? If so, I'd definitely stand firm.

Eaglemom-- rather than starting a new thread each time you have new question, how about just adding to this thread? It'd make it alot easier to keep track of what's going on with you. :-)

ok - sorry about starting new thread. He's not purchased the grout yet. In calling around one store says one things the other says another. Honestly the tiler wants to do exactly as we'd discussed but at the time I wrote the previous post he didn't have the epoxy grout. Since then he's traveling quite a distance to get it. So the question is now - do we seal the marble prior to grouting? One store says you do and one says you do not. Thanks again.

I'll answer by saying it should be left up to the installer. Personally, I'd rather grout the stone unsealed, unless it's something that's super absorbant, such as honed limestone, or the like. Even slate I prefer to grout unsealed. But there are plenty of installers who prefer to seal the stone first, and in the case of DIYers I strongly recommend it.

Lowe's carries epoxy grout. Do you have one near you?

Well the epoxy grout issue is done. Have epoxy grout on the vanity, unsanded grout on the marble shower and sanded grout on the design because of the width of the mossiacs. Unfortunately they didn't finish up tonight - 7 6x6 tumbled marble short. They will come back in the morning and finish up. I will get some pix and try to see if I can figure out how to post them when its 100% complete. The plumber is scheduled for Monday. Hopefully the glass door guy can measure on Monday. We love it - and they've asked if I'd sign a "release" that it can be put on their internet site. I will be the first one to say they have worked very hard, long hours. Thanks all for the support. Pix's tomorrow
