Mongoct - your vanity

mongoct - I have had a picture of your vanity in my idea file for quite some time. I like how you made a tall cabinet to conceal the toilet. We will not be making our own cabinets, but I am looking at doing something similar. Could you please tell me how tall and deep you made that cabinet? Also, is there a towel ring on the side of this cabinet? The picture I have doesn't show where you have your towel. Also, what is opposite this cabinet? I would really appreciate it if you could post a few more pictures. We are drawing out the bathroom, but I am no good at going from two dimensional to three dimensional in my head.

Thanks.

I remember this question from before so here is the link. I guess even tile pros take vacations. The dimensions are down in the thread.

Here is a link that might be useful: Old post same question

Thanks cleo, I bookmarked that thread.

Yup, we were out of town. When I travel I'm pretty much off-line, been gone for a few weeks. Up in Maine to start, then I just flew in from Rome.

Did that other thread the cleo linked to answer your questions? (thanks cleo!)

Maine - I miss lobster, did you get to eat a lot? And Rome, I'm not much of a city person, but Italy is beautiful. I hope you got to see the countryside.

The other thread covered pretty much everything except where you put the hand towel for that sink.

At the pier and right off the boat lobster was $2/lb. Pretty much stuck with 2-pounders for $4 each. Can't beat that!

Rome, though hot last week, is a lovely city. While probably at the top, Rome is easily amongst my top 3 favorite cities in Europe.

    Hand towels:

I "own" the upper part of the floor-to-ceiling cabinet to the left of the sink. My hand towel is hung on a hook on the back side of the upper cabinet door. Works great for me. When I'm at the sink I usually open that cabinet for my "stuff" and the towel is right there. Easy.

My wife has a hook for her hand towel on the back of the door of the cabinet to the right of the sink. That's a location that absolutely would not work for me. Too low, ergonomically inconvenient. She prefers it there. Though sometimes she'll leave her towel folded neatly on the countertop to the right of the sink. When she leaves it out, it doesn't look messy. It adds a dash of color to the room. A lazy way to accessorize!

Hope you are weathering the storm well.

I have another question regarding the pony wall cabinet. Are you willing to share a photo or two of the bottom pull out? I know you posted you used 28" drawer slides. But I am a novice and need a bit more information on how you made the divider and the shelves on each side of the divider.

    Thanks

"Hope you are weathering the storm well."

Lost the electricity for the week! I'm playing catch-up now.

I'll try to snap and post a few photos sometime this week. If not tomorrow, then it'll be later in the week. If I don't get them up by the end of the week, email me.

Sort of off topic from pony walls but I viewed your bathroom photos and it is magnificent. What an inspiration! What an imagination. It's beautiful. I admired everything about it down to the paint color of the cabinets which begs me to ask what color is that on the cabinets? It's not too white not too tan it's just right!! I love it and am in the white paint dilemma for bathroom cabinets. Thanks and again great job!

"I admired everything about it down to the paint color of the cabinets which begs me to ask what color is that on the cabinets?"

Thanks gr8day, it's a simple antique white. We originally had planned to use a color called "meerschaum", the arched door entry trim is meerschaum, carried over from the other room. Then the paint shop that had meerschaum closed!

No one else carried that brand of paint, so I compared chips and "antique white" was so close that the two colors are pretty much side-by-side and indistinguishable.

Essentially a very slight off-white, just a little bit creamy.

Thank you so much for the pictures. I am working on my vanity, which is inspired by yours. Once it is finished, I will post pictures. It will be awhile though, we are building and are just at the rough electrical stage.

I'm so sorry to ask but what brand of antique white would that be? It seems that every brand has an antique white and they range from pink to cream. I've had such a hard time with this and have so many sample cans in the garage that I would be eternally grateful to finally get this bear wrestled to the ground!!! Thank you so much!

    gr8day, sorry about that.

The Meerschaum was Pratt and Lambert. When the paint shop went out of business, we trundled off to Home Depot, the Antique White is Behr.
