A bathroom chuckle!

Ok, so on the 22nd I ordered a AS Cadet 3 with 10" rough in from Lowes. The toilet we had was right up against the wall and we were tiling behind the toilet so needed a 10". No one in So Cal has these in stock, so had to order.

Was supposed to be in yesterday. I called and no one could find the PO on the computer. I came home and checked online and it said it didn't exist! So I called again, after about 10 minutes finally talked to someone who knew what they were doing, finally! The toilet was never ordered! There was a glitch in their system and no one caught it! The great guy in plumbing who knew what he was doing called AS and ordered one today, but it won't be in until next week. He was great, but I wanted the manager to know that someone screwed up!

So I went up front and calmly explained the situation. Said my kids would have to go another week without a toilet in their now finished bathroom! He said 'yeah it was a good thing you came in'. Ah, excuse me I don't think it is my job to check on whether or not my order was ordered. I did pay for it and you did charge me for it! Actually I didn't say that, but I thought it!

So what do I get from this , a FREE toilet seat! You better bet I will be picking the most expensive one! I wonder if they carry the 24k ones???

Lowes did the same thing when I ordered a dishwasher. Luckily I called within a day to check the order status so I didn't lose much time. I wonder if this is a common occurence with them?

Lowes has totaly drop the ball w/ our kitchen cabinets. Twice ordering the wrong finsh. I'm not happy w/ them. You should special order a self closing seat!

Strangely, I have had only good experiences so far with Lowe's.

Where I've not been happy is (surprise!) small, local showrooms, where I went expecting better service (because they are small. and local). I too placed an order that never got ordered. I also was guided through placing an order, only to discover weeks later that the fixture did not come separately from its "suite." And one saleswoman helped me select a faucet--that did not work with the sink I was selecting as part of the same order. After these two miserable experiences, I tried a third, final place for everything I had left to order. I specifically chose items that were in stock so that I could be sure they would come in time. But guess what! After paying, it turned out that these things were actually backordered. D'oh! I finally vented to my contractor that I don't know how these places stay in business, especially when ordering online is usually cheaper and apparently more efficient.

The only difference between your Lowe's experience and my non-Lowe's experiences is that none of my stores offered anything when mistakes were discovered. It's too bad that the order was messed up and your toilet is delayed, but a free toilet seat is at least SOME compensation for your trouble! Get a good one!

I found one that is an American Standard one with the Micro Shield, or something like that. It is $36.98, so that is the one I will chose. Actually I have had nothing but good service from Lowes for this go around. This is the only glitch. Hopefully it will come in on Friday! I think I will call on Monday to check, never can be too sure!

We had something similar with our sinks at Lowes, but we hadn't paid for them. I think they have software problems with their Special order service for their American Standard porcelain products. We spent so much time at the specialty plumbing desk we were even calling the system M2slow (M20-name of operating system)
