I have seen this done in a model home. It is apparently quite common in Europe, called a wet room I think. I live in a cold climate, my husband showers before I get up, and I can't imagine sitting on a wet toilet in the middle of winter. I would rather have a smaller shower and vanity and have a separate toilet! When I called the builder with my opinion (I felt that strongly about it) he said that they got a lot of negative feedback and the new owners changed it to "normal".

With a toilet in the shower, won't you be cleaning the toilet area + the entire shower, too, 20X a day? I have small rugs in front of toilet, rectangle or contour.

This setup is also seen in Asia especially in Japan where space is extremely limited. I haven't used a toilet inside a shower, but it might need some time to get used to it.

I personally would prefer not to have to sit on a wet toilet seat from a steamy shower. The little Swiffer wet mops, or even just wet wipes, might be a better solution that each uses to keep the area clean after use, or they have their very own toilet to keep clean. Good luck

I stayed in a 17th century villa in Italy which had such an arrangement. The bath was located in a small room which connected two bedrooms. Because there was traffic flow through the middle, the fixtures were placed along the long sides (about 8ft ) of the room. On one side, a glass wall with a centrally placed glass door formed a wet room with shower and toilet. Other than having to be creative with keeping the paper dry, this arrangement worked just fine. Sure there was dampness on the toilet after showering but no big deal. That was far, far preferable to having a dinky little shower where you can't wash your hair without banging your elbows- forget bending over. I saw numerous other small European bathrooms with no possibility of a delineated shower area, but just a wall spout that sprayed all over the room. (You could wash your hair and use the toilet at the same time!) After spending a lot of time in Asia, I was happy to have a toilet at all, never mind if it's a little damp! There, where there was running water, there was invariably a sprayer located adjacent to the toilet. I put one into my bath remodel recently. Not only does it take the place of a bidet, but you can use it to wash down the toilet. Of course you must plan accordingly by having a drain in the right place, water supply in the right place, and an appropriate spray head with wall attachment. Mine has a temperature valve, the Asian ones were simply cold water.
Big wet rooms are somewhat of a trend now. I am personally not crazy about the concept in general, (especially where the showering area becomes too open and breezy)- unless of course, you're in the tropics and who needs an indoor shower at all.) But in some cases, as in the villa mentioned, it is a very good solution. Hope this helps.

For resale purposes alone, I would hesitate to go this route. From a practical standpoint, where on earth would you put the bath tissue??? I'd suggest a training tool for your husband:)

Hey Tina! We think you have a great idea, but what we would suggest is a wall-mounted toilet ( http://www.atgstores.com/wall-hung-toilets-atg_507_oa0185179.html?linkloc=catheader&gpid=163730). This should give you the best of both worlds - a toilet with clean lines that's not in the shower, but is easy to clean underneath/around with a quick, wet Swiff. I was also thinking a wall mounted toilet. For a number reasons, the arrangement you propose is very taste specific and could be a problem down the road if you decide to sell. Also, not mentioned is no one can slip in and use the toilet privately when someone is in the shower (again, personal privacy preference). The wall hung will take up less space and is easy to clean. Also, this cleaning task should be put on his to-do list, not yours. Trust me, this will alleviate the problem :)
