Here she is......

Hi everyone,

I've finally taken some time to hunt down my 'photobucket' and 'posting photos' directions (courtesy of kats from last winter) and upload a few photos of the house we bought the end of May.

Many of you probably remember that we purchased plans for a S.L. Idea home last summer and planned to build that on our land in CA. Well, too many closed doors to count and we finally gave up trying.

So glad we did, because this house we tried to buy 1-1/2 years ago (almost to the day!) came back on the market and WE BOUGHT IT.

Never mind that it's clear across the US (practically), and at stud stage interior. WE're so excited that it's all worked out this time around.

The subs begin the electrical/plumbing/HVAC in just a few weeks, so we'll be headed back to the hot, humid south. Can't wait to 'begin the journey', and I'm sure I'll be on here a LOT asking advice!!

Sorry it took so long for me to figure out this posting thing, but here it is for those of you who asked......:o)

Here's the UNFINISHED interior. I hope this qualifies me for 'building a house' forum. :o)

Totallyblessed, she is lovely!! Congratulations. They did a great job on framing your arches. I love the brick, and the widow walk! Thanks for sharing.

Wow, that house has a beautiful presence on the property. And I love arches in homes. We were able to get a few in ours. I'm a little confused, you were buying property in CA but now are going to the south? Where in the south is your house?

The arches and grand staircase are going to be amazing features. Congratulations & good luck on your build!

BTW, I'll (hopefully) have some pics soon but right now the house is an embarassing mess.

You couldn't pick a more humid time to move to Alabama! lol If you ever get down this way, be sure to call! Congrats on finally getting the house. It will make a wonderful home. :)

My, my, I can picture you jus' sittin' out there in front of your house flirtin' with those cute Tarleton twins, Miz Scarlett. Yes, I can!

Happy this adventure is turning out so well for you, despite all the twists and turns.

It's beautiful!! The arches are a really nice feature. Good luck to you!!

Congratulations- you must be so excited! The house is very pretty. The arches are very nice, but I like the staircase the most. It looks very wide in the picture! And, yes...this definitely qualilfies you for building a house! Welcome to the club :)

totallyblessed, I've wondered where you've been!

Thanks so much for posting--wow, you are going to have fun with that big house to finish and decorate--love the arches and can't wait to see the interior!

It's gorgeous. Congrats on getting a headstart on building a new home. :)

    Hi everyone,

Oh, thanks for the warm welcome to "the club". :o)

Joan~ we own a home in CA already. This house in AL will be a 2nd home for us.

kelly~ I was wondering if I kept missing your photos. I do understand the "mess" thing. I'll look forward to your pictures. You know I still have our purchased plans for your house's "cousin", and someday...... *wink*

Allison~ You'll have to clue me in on great places to antique. I keep pinching myself that we are REALLY going to be in the south. We LOVE the south. And we've met our neighbors and they are genuinely amazing. That true "southern hospitality" and all that. So happy this all worked out! :o)

Chisue~ You are so funny. Everyone that looks at the house tells us that we should have named one of our daughter's "Scarlett". And our little neighbor girl already wants to come over and drink lemonade on our front porch...

Thanks for the sweet words everyone. And Charliedawg, you're right. We did indeed get a headstart on building our home. I'm not the greatest at visualizing a home from a flast sheet of paper (the blueprints or floorplan) so this almost feels like I get to cheat..... LOL!!

    congrats, totallyblessed! she's beautiful!

will you divide your time equally between CA and AL?

    kygirl,

Thanks. :o) We'll probably be in AL a bit more than in CA. We're planning to escape our LOOOONG snowy winters! We plan to spend our summers in CA, and escape the HUMID summers in AL. LOL!

We're super excited... hopefully it will be the best of both worlds.

How are you enjoying your new home? Did you ever post completed pictures... I missed them. :o(

WOW, TotallyBlessed!!! It's gorgeous! And to think it's your SECOND home! I hope you have a blast with the build and that it's all you and your family have been hoping and dreaming of!

KYgirl, we've missed you! I hope you're enjoying your new home!
