Glass or ceramic tile for shower?

Hello, all -

My decorator has suggested white subway tile with a few blue-grey subway tiles for my son's shower walls. I am good with her suggestion - think it will look good with the cabinets and countertop, but I am torn on the material for the tiles.

The price difference between using glass tiles and ceramic tiles is not beyond my budget, fortunately, and I do know the two won't have the same look (although I don't have a favorite between them yet). I have found the right tiles in glass, but I have to look more to find the grey-blue in ceramic - I may have to mix white ceramic and blue-grey glass.

I have had trouble in the past with the ceramic tiles etching from water spots, so I am leaning towards glass tiles. But I have never used glass tiles in the shower, so I don't know if they will stand up to water spots without etching, either.

Anyone out there with advice on whether the glass or the ceramic is more care-free? This will be the shower of a soon-to-be-a-teenager boy, so I can pretty much count on it not being taken care of like the master shower will be treated.

Advice? Personal experience?

Thanks so much.
