bisque on bisque

Is bisque on bisque going out of style? Sears told us not to order that color as it is being replaced by black or stainless steel in appliance colors. They said in a few years bisque will no longer be an option so don't buy bisque now or appliances you replace in a few years won't match. Said it's not just Sears. The demand has changed.

I hear it is ... but i'm still getting it.

demand may have changed, but they aren't filling it. too many people (like me) don't like black, white or SS!

Then hopefully when i go to buy an oven i can get a very good deal on one they can't sell!

Bisque has been out of style for the last 10 years or so. Many manufacturers don't even make bisque appliances, or if they do, make them in such a small selection of styles that you really don't have a good selection. Bisque can still be had in high end appliances that come in number of colors like Viking, or in a few lower end models like Amana, but that's about it. For a mid range appliance purchase, finding bisque at all will be a big challenge. I personally like how it looks with many cabinets, but wouldn't want to lock myself into something so unavailable should a replacement need arise. Much less lock myself into such a limited choice range.

It's about supply and demand, and there just isn't a demand, so the supply has consequently been reduced. Less than .5% of appliances sold will be bisque. Yes, that's 1/2 of a percent. 80% of the middle range market is stainless, with the rest being pretty much evenly split between black and white. Paneled appliances creep in the picture in the upper price range, as do some specialty colors like Viking's eggplant and graphite, but those numbers don't make a blip on the radar hardly at all.

Once the general populace figures out that SS is not synonymous with quality, it, too, will lose popularity.

The only place I've really seen a lot of bisque is at Sears and especially Sears Outlet. If you want bisque, you can really get a deal now.

I do think it's great that people can get stainless or stainless look in any price range.

OTOH, I would love to see more color options in appliances. There's an Amana fridge that's available in colors like red and cobalt blue, but they're only 18 cu. ft. with no plans for other sizes.

I have an ancient bisque (it was called something else at the time) Maytage dryer (31 years old) and a bisque washer that's now about 8. Amazingly they both look wonderful. I'm convinced the only reason that my machines look so modern is that the bisque color tones down the stark white of a big washer dryer combo.

I realize that I'll need a new pair soon and am SOOO sad that there seem to be now bisque sets made in any of the models that I'm considering.
