Kohler Elevance Tub - for disabled - gorgeous

Pretty new product from Kohler.

anyone who is looking for the equivalent of a walk-in tub and has the money to pay for a tub whose retail cost starts at $5700 might start with the Elevance, a "rising wall" bathtub.

It has 3 drains which means to me that installation cost is going to be very expensive.

But I like to dream. Even if I had the money, I don't like that it is such new product - wish it had been on the market so some of the bugs could be out of it.

But even if you aren't disabled, this would be a nice tub to have.

There is an "Ava tub" that has been out for a longer period of time and looks like it might operate similarly with a "rising wall" but I haven't found any information about cost.

Looking for any info on these. I WAS shopping for a standard walk-in tub, you know the ugly kind that has been out there a while, but now that I've seen the Elevance, I'm REALLY struggling to keep from being SO disappointed about the difference in esthetics of the two products.

Your thinking about spending $6000 on a bathtub and you're worried about a few bucks extra to have it installed ??? Seriously ?

What "bugs" have you heard about ?

I think installation is likely to be at least another 5 or 6K if not more, not just a "few bucks extra". I'm speculating here but I know that installation for the old style walk-in tubs was more than the amount of the tub so for this new one, it is likely to be more because of the three drains but I have no evidence other than my guess.

I have not heard of any bugs at all but the product is so new, there hasn't been a lot of time for such reports to be made. Was hoping to hear something in this forum before I have to make any kind of a decision.

I have one of these tubs. It is lovely, easy to get into and pleasing to look at. However, it has problems. This tub has trapped me twice now when the door seal fails to deflate. The only way to deflate it is for my husband to get on the floor, remove the lower panel and physically pull the plug under the tub, then plug it back in and it will finally deflate allowing me to escape. Luckily, my husband is physically able to do this. This problem with the tub means that I can not just have a bath anytime I wish. I have to make sure he around incase the tub decides to hold me captive.

This is a nice deep tub. So anyone who needs a special access tub will not be able to get out of this tub unless the door can be lowered. I wish it worked better. Kohler is aware of this problem since the first time it trapped me, husband was on the phone while the service rep talked him through the process to release me.
