I know several people who swear by just wiping the towel down with a towel after drying off. They say it keeps tile/grout (regardless of what they are made of) looking great for a long long time. I can't say I'm one of those who do it religiously; but plan to when i redo my master bath.

I couldn't find a squeegee I liked for our upstairs bathrooms. After showering, we spray the tub surrounds and the tubs with Mrs. Meyer's Daily Shower spray (Lavender scent!), and let that sit while toweling off, moisturizing, etc. Then, we wipe down the walls (where they're wet) and the tub itself (just to remove any loose hair) with a piece of paper towel, or a microfiber cloth.

Tile, grout, etc. still look great a year and a half post-reno and we hope they continue to for years to come. Too much time, $, and effort went into the renovations, so it's time well-spent IMO keeping them looking as good as they can look.

tobler, would you mind posting pictures? I was thinking of doing glass tile in our bath renovation.

tobler- Squeegeeing (sp?) or wiping down with a towel after every shower is the way to go to avoind water spots on your beautiful tile & keep the grout looking bright white. We have a rather large shower (4' x 7') and while I can't say I enjoy squeegeeing every morning & evening, it sure beats scrubbing grout lines, fighting mold/mildew cleaner fumes, & trying to figure out what to try next to rid my tile of stubborn water spots.

I can tell you that my Mom & Dad have been in their new house 6 years now & squeegee religiously--their shower looks just like it did the day they moved in. Mom has only "scrubbed" the walls down twice & only then because she felt like it needed it even though she couldn't see anything--it had been 3 years (since they moved in & then since the last scrubbing), afterall!

rufinorox, I was out of town and just saw your note. I will post pictures of the not quite finished shower tomorrow. It has the tile, but not the door or the threshold. You'll get a good idea of the shower though.

we are still missing our door, the bar to adjust the height of the hand held shower, one more corner shelf on the left, and the teak corner stool.

sleevepresto--your solution to getting your DH to squeegee is to tell him he has to clean the shower every week--floor & walls & that no mold/mildew or water stains are acceptable--it has to look like new...or he can squeegee after his shower. My DH doesn't like to squeegee either, but he'd rather do that everyday than scrub weekly.

Or, just make sure that you take the last shower of the day and squeegee afterwards.

sleeve I was worried about mine using the squeegee too. But he does it 98% of the time. I go in sometimes with a microfiber (works great, like an eraser) after a shower and scrub the bottom part that still gets a film on it, even tho we squeegee allot. I have terrible water here. But I think you will find that he will love the look of the new shower and will want it to stay that way and will get with the program.

Just take a microfibre cloth and wipe it down....and use liquid soap there...NO "bar soap" as it contains animal fat as a binder.

lazarususa, i do use bar soap. lemon verbena. it would make me sad to give it up. i'm going to try the microfiber and see if it works despite the soap. if not, i guess i'll have to adjust. i never would have thought of that though, thanks.

thank you! i always go for color, not neutrals but I feel that most people on this forum are neutrals only. when i post my finished bath pix, we'll see...
