Monogram Advantium Accessory Storage Drawer

Any thoughts as to the merits of the GE Monogram Advantium specialized accessory storage drawer that is designed to be installed immediately below the oven? We're installing the Advantium in a deep (28") cabinet and our kitchen designer is concerned that the Advantium storage drawer, at only 3" high, may be narrower, shallower and less attractive than building a custom wood-front drawer to sit right below the oven.

My thought was that we would only install the oven rack and three Advantium trays in the drawer and it would keep them separated which they might not be in a deeper (10 inch) custom drawer under the oven but I hear his points.

All opinions welcome.

I think its smart and convenient to have some sort of drawer near the oven for Advantium's accessory trays (etc.), which you'll be swapping in and out often as you switch between microwave and bake/broil or whatever.

A deep custom drawer that holds some oven mitts/pot holders in a separate compartment behind the trays might be the best bet. There's no particular reason this drawer has to be the one Advantium sells (except I guess it would match).

I think a large custom drawer below the oven accumulating a bunch of other stuff that gets in your way while swapping trays -- or wastes space if its only holding Advantium's stuff -- would prove to be a real pain.
