Did everyone have fun last night? We had a great time, only one bag of candy left! This is the evil Raul "cooking" some hands and feet! Second pic is the "real" Raul:

Good morning! Great photos! Did evil Raul scare the kiddies?
We had a lovely time. Took Anna and a friend on a hayride through the neighborhood and they loved it! I didn't think a couple of one year olds would enjoy something like that, but they squealed and giggled and were so proud of the candy. Grandpa and I are already planning something for next year out here at the farm.

Oh my, that is a gruesome barbecue! I love that you and Raul are such enthusiastic participants in Halloween fun.
We had a blast. I tried to attach 2 more pics but, it's not working, maybe later!

creeser, next year I want to be invited on your hayride it sounds like so much fun.

michigammemom, this was only Raul's second Halloween ever, they don't celebrate it much in Mexico and until now we lived in an apartment with no trick or treaters, so he's like a little kid with a new toy!
Bobbi, c'mon girl! Always room for one more on a hay ride!
Thank you creeser! I'll try not to take up too much room and I'll bring the brandy cleverly disguised as Jack Daniels!
Is Raul using those rubbery hands and feet with orange twinkle lights in the coals area?
tipi, yes he is! But the little lights didn't twinke :(
  • 14 years ago
Bobbi P, does Raul cook? I love, love Mexican food which is not around here. You can have lobster, baked beans, cod, Wellfleet oysters and pretty good Italian sauce and an Irish boiled dinner in MA, but we have to drive to Boston for any other ethnic foods (all of which we love….except curry, don't like curry).

No trick or treaters here, although I notice there is plenty of candy by the front door. Who do you suppose bought that? Hurricane interfered as there are still powers outages and limbs down, etc.
judyg, you're so cute! Does microwaving a quesadilla count as cooking? hehehe No, I'm actually pretty good at cooking Mexican. Raul's mother (who I love, love, love) usually comes here once a year and stays for about a month and she has taught me how to cook authentic Mexican, not Taco Hell.

Someone left candy at your door???? Did they leave a Mercedes too? I heard in some areas Halloween has been postponed til Sunday because of the hurricane.

First coat of Revere Pewter on third and fourth walls. I'm liking this color better on these walls for some reason!

Bobbi, am I understanding that you painted walls one and two and did not like the color? Now you are painting walls three and four with the same color and it more pleasing? I am a bit confused today. Please help me understand.
Maybe it's the light on those walls. Whatever the reason, I'm glad you are starting to like it! Nothing worse than putting all that work into painting something and then not like the color.
tipi, you're not confused, I am! Yes it's true, I didn't like it at first but it's growing on me. I think creeser's got it, there's much more light on the second set of walls.
Bobbi, I was looking at photos of rooms done in Revere Pewter and saw some cabinets and chests painted in that color. They are really stunning pieces. I think I may have to find a can of it myself and repaint some of tables and chests in it.
Well, I've got plenty of that paint if you want to come and get some! Three gallons!

Let me ask you a question. The walls with one coat look the same as the walls with two coats. It's really rainy and humid here today so I'm a little worried about the paint drying thoroughly. Since all four walls now look the same, do you think I need to do a second coat on the second two walls?
Absolutely! For a couple of reasons. When it dries thoroughly, it will be slightly different in color. AND... you never get full coverage with one coat. Once it dries, you'll see thin spots, missed spots, etc. Been there, done that. Sorry...:(
  • 14 years ago
    ok, dang, but thanks!

I am old; I forget; did you tell us with what the Revere Pewter will be accented? NJ girls usually do not wind up with a Mexican boy! How did you two meet? He is a cutie! (in spite of the outift):>)
We are accessorizing with black, beige and chrome (frames). No, you're right, NJ girls end up with Italians or Puerto Ricans. We met at work, we've been together for 19 years. I'll tell him you think he's a cutie (thanks!) but it will just go to his clown head.

And, speaking of NJ girl, did you see Chris Christie delcared 8 NJ counties eligible for emergency unemployment insurance? One of them is Middlesex County, where I was born.

I keep inviting Gov Chrisite to come to California and clean it up, but so far.........

I love to know how couples have met. When you hear how long they've been together it makes you realize they were in the right place at the right time. I met my husband my freshman year in college. He always had a cute remark when I passed him on campus, but he was older and BMOCampus, never thought he would be interested in me. Four years later I am driving at 60 mph on a 3 lane highway and a car pulls up beside me and the back window rolls down and THERE HE IS!! Would I like to go out? It's a wonder I didn't crash! And that's the quick story…48 years ago. (I know, I'm old!) xxxooo

You and Raul have a good relationship, I know, because you have proudly pulled him into our OLLD!

Love Revere Pewter with all your accessories.
judyg that's such a cute story! Where did you go on your first date?

Thanks for the encouragement about the color and accessories. I can't stay awake, I'm pooped!
To a football game…took me all day to get ready. Must have washed my hair 3 times. Paid off…we went parking. :>)
Good night's sleep. Hey, it's only 5:20 where you are. What's for dinner?

http://mog.com/emscee/blog/66850 Here are some titles of songs about clowns, Sing one to Raul. Was that a clown costume? Evil clown with the red nose?
judyg, that's funny about the clown songs! But it would be even funnier to hear me sing, I'll pass, thanks anyway!

GG, there are certain groups that are crazy about the Kardashians (and others) that I have no idea where they originated and how they achieved their claim to fame. They are all just trashy from what I've seen. People used to be ashamed of the kind of behavior that's flaunted on tv these days.

judyg.. I met my husband on a blind date to the county fair 30 years ago. We married 3 months later... I know... but it worked. We will be married 30 years the end of January. It didn't hit me until recently that I wonder if his parents thought I was "knocked up" for us to get married so quickly? *L* Thank goodness our daughter didn't come along until after we'd been married for 2 years.
GG, love that! My daughter and son-in-law met at church. I had some dire concerns about that boy and met with the pastor. We sat in the empty nursery and rocked and talked and prayed. 7 years later, that boy has grown on me like I didn't think possible. Church can make for a good start.

There are so many shows on American tv, that I just do not understand how they got there. All of it is arguing, filthy language, filthy behavior and like you said... they laugh all the way to the bank. The sad part about it is our youth are glued to these shows and emulate that behavior.

Are tv shows any better in Australia?

    michigammemom, how sweet!

gg, I watch a lot of British shows on BBC America and PBS. Love the series Downton Abbey. I missed the first few shows of the new Upstairs Downstairs thinking they were reruns, so now I won't watch. I hate coming in mid-season. I'll see if I can find One Foot in the Grave and Waiting for God on BBC America.

Don't get me started on the lack of respect from teenagers, though I will say, they aren't all that way. I see too many parents that want someone else to raise their children and then scream bloody murder if someone tries to discipline the children. I am surprised there are still people willing to be teachers over here. One of my daughter's friends is a teacher and she said this is the worst group of children she has ever had. The filth and the meanness that permeates the whole group is unbelievable. They are 3rd graders! I've always been curious as to whether this was an American phenomenon or if you see it worldwide.

Makes one want to become a hermit and wash their hands of so-called civilization.

And we enjoy you as well gg! Good night and sweet dreams. We will finish talking tv and teens when you get up.

I used to watch more t v until I got hooked on OLLD! Now, I am trying to catch up "on demand". We are Downton Abbey fans and have just started watching "Call the Midwife".. All fourteen year old girls should watch this one. This is relating to above comments as to what is happening to our teenages. Once upon a time birth control was free; you could get it at home, especially from your father. It was marketed as "FEAR". A very catchy brand name.

I used to watch HG-TV all the time, but I am sick of some of the shows. How many times can you watch a young couple try buy a home, especially when they eliminate it because they don't like the paint color on the walls? I do enjoy Sarah Richardson, though.
