How are you going to use the drawers? If you are going to use them for drinks and snacks, then locate them close to the end of the island or cabinets where people can go to the edge of the kitchen and grab something without having to walk through the working areas in the kitchen. If you are going to use the refridgerator drawers for juicing or vegetables and fresh produce, then locate them next to the sink you will use for prepping the produce.

Thank you for your comments. We plan to use the drawers mostly for fresh produce but I also anticpate using them for drinks and extra food/dishes requiring refrigeration when we are entertaining. Placing the drawers close to the sink is an excellent idea. Thanks again.

You gotta think of how you work. As close to the fridge may be best as long as you have a staging and prep area so that if you are pulling out fruit or veggies you can start cutting, arranging and plating right there. To have to schlepp things 14 feet will grow tired real quick. Ask your designer. and adhere to the work triangle.
