I bought some blocks at the home supply store. They were less than $3 each. I bought a diamond hole saw from eBay - it was under $10 shipped.

It was super easy to drill the holes. I didn't use a drill press - just put the glass block into a box for safety and started drilling. I would stop and cool the bit with water frequently. I put on some safety glasses also. It only took a few minutes to drill the holes.

Thanks iowgirl for sharing that information... I may check that out..heck son may have one of those drils since he is in construction..LOL duh.. what was I thinking.. I will check out the prices at Lowes..

For those of you who will be drilling the blocks - got this information from a tile man - warm up the block by either putting it outside or just warm it in the oven just 'till it is warm to the touch - they are less apt to crack

Great tip Grandmabonnie, I really want to make some of these for next year.. and since some of the Home Depots are suppose to be going out of business I thought I would watch for sales from them.. or just sales for any where..LOL I really like the clear glass blocks for things like pictures on the fronts..but the other kind for like just lights and ribbion on them.. and making snowmen out of them..
