New Appliances....HELP!

I am also new here and as I search for my new appliances my head spins! There are so many choices and of course all the stores push the most expensive brands and options!

My first question is, which is better in terms of space and ease of use, a cooktop and double oven combination or a double oven range?

Second, please give feedback on Wolf products? Are they worth the price or should I consider the GE monogram series? Or any other brands??

Third, I am reading all over that Sub Zero is the way to go. Any feedback would be great. I am looking for a 48 inch built in.

You have some questions that could have a lot of answers! We don't know what kind of space you have available, so it's hard to say whether a range or rangetop and ovens will be a better use of your space. I like having them separate so someone can bake while someone else cooks, I can put things in and out at a more comfortable height, and I can see into the oven to keep an eye on baking from almost anywhere in the room. But I had plenty of counter space to be able to give up the wall space for the double ovens.

I have a Wolf rangetop and am impressed with the construction quality and customer service. It has powerful burners that offer the same high power and nice, low simmer on each one, so I can use the burners as I see fit and how my pans fit, not by what burners offer which amounts of power. I have a double grill/griddle pan and I can use it on any 2 burners. I knew I wanted open burners, and a unit that was made for LP/propane, so I wouldn't lose power through a modification for the fuel type. I also wanted 8 burners, so that limited my choices. I still think I was deciding between the 2 best...Wolf and BlueStar.

Monogram looks nice, and I like their grates that reverse for use with a wok. They do have sealed burners, which I don't like as well.

I did, however, choose a Monogram double oven. Wolf is reported to be wonderful, but there are other wonderful ovens, I believe, with a friendlier price tag. I started with Fisher and Paykel, but do to a couple of problems, they are taking the oven back and I'm awaiting the installation of the Monograms.

SubZero has some great refrigeration options, but so far out of my price range, I didn't even look at them. My Electrolux Icon fridges (2) and freezer keep my food cold for far less money, so that's what we have.

    Best wishes!

Lots of recommendations possible, but you can help a bit by prioritizing some things like the kinds of things you cook, how important "real estate agent recognized" name brands are, what your budget might be (and if you've yet included vent hood), and the like.

You've sort of asked "I hear that a Prius is a great car. How does it compare to a Mini Cooper? They wanted to sell me a Ferrari."

I cook and my husband cleans.. We do not have our kitchen done, but he spent a lot of time looking at EVERY Dual Fuel 6 burner option out there. We did go with the SubZero- refrigeration- I am happy with that decision.. It gives our kitchen a punch. We went with the GE Mongogram over the Wolf- the pullout oven racks in the wolf made a sound and we were told we could upgrade each rack for an additional 150/rack to have a easy glide out. IMHO, that should be standard on a 13k range/df unit.
My husband, who designs new products for a living, didn't like a few "shortcuts" that I couldn't see in the wolf unit along the top. He would have to explain that.

Ultimately, the driving force for me was- looking at the ss wolfs after being used and trying to weigh the benefits... The Monogram offers a great product with big ovens- that was the driving force for us.

    rhome...
which oven model did you ultimately choose? Also, why a Wolf range top and not a cooktop?

We had the space for a 48" Sub Zero when we build our latest home (10 years ago), so we installed a Model 532 side by side with match wod inserts to the cabinetry. In our previous home we had a 36" wide Sub Zero with the freezer below. Neither had/has a water or ice dispenser.

My spouse liked the freezer below, whereas I like the side by side. But in both cases, we like the Sub Zero overall. They've been very quiet and absolutely trouble free.

One thing to note on the side by side...very large pizza boxes will not fit in the freezer.
