I have a lot of embroidery thread (tons of different colors) and I'm wondering if this thread can be used for craft/garment sewing? I would not use it in a quilted piece that I want to be left to my future generations :-)

I know when I started embroidering I was told you couldn't use regular thread in that type of machine but I don't know about the reverse.
