So Excited!

We (DH & I & 4.5 year old DS) are leaving for Disneyland Tuesday morning! We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel for the "total experience." :)

My DS is so excited, and I can't wait to watch him take it all in. The weather is supposed to be sunny and in the 70's, which will be such a nice change from the gray cold weather here.

I haven't been since I was a little girl, so I am excited for myself too, as dorky as that is! I am really looking forward to a vacation just for us, that doesn't involve a family gathering.

Things at my job have been extremely tense, due to a HR investigation of several staff members that has been dragging on for three months. It was all instigated by a group of disgruntled staff, and it has completed divided our staff. In my opinion the whole thing is complete B.S. I am so happy to be out of that environment. It has really been wearing on me emotionally, and I am exhausted.

So I am doing laundry, packing, and reading my little guidebook. Happiest place on earth, here I come!!!

Have a great time! The weather alone would be a reason to go.

We have such great family memories of Disney. We went to DW since we are on the east coast. I had been to Disneyland as a teen and loved it. Say hi to Mickey for me!

Have a wonderful time and be sure to take lots of pix. Do you have a video camera? When we took our kids we did 'interviews' with them as we waited on line for rides, and years later we still enjoy watching those.

Have a great time. Your son is at the right age for a first trip to Disneyland. I remember taking my oldest son at that age and he was so thrilled with the tram from the parking lot to the gate that he wanted to go on that "ride" again. It was so cute. I haven't been to Disneyland in years, but I strongly recommend the Fantasmic show. The first time I saw it I thought that it was worth the price of admission.

It looks like the weather should be about perfect. My daughter lives in L.A. now and I talked to her yesterday and she said that it was sunny and near 80 degrees.

A hearty welcome to you from this native Californian who's been going to Disneyland since it opened in 1955. My mom and aunt both worked at Disney Studios in Burbank back then and all employees were invited to the many opening functions. It truly is the magic kingdom and your son is going to have the memory of a lifetime. You've also made such a wonderful decision to stay at the Disneyland Hotel so you can have the 'total experience'.

Leave all your work related stress behind and have a wonderful decompressing holiday. Hope you don't mind that the temperatures are between 74 and 76 degrees.

    Again, my warmest welcome....

Have a wonderful time!! DH and I, plus our three married kids and our 6 grandkids did DisneyWorld for Christmas a couple years ago -- great time!

One of the best things our grandkids did was to buy a character autograph/photo album and then collect autographs. We took photos of the kids with each character. It was a nice thing to have a goal -- sometimes when the kids went on overload, we could redirect by looking for specific characters. And the album made a great memory -- fun for conversations when we got home.

    Have fun!

    Thanks everyone!

Yes, we are armed with the Flip camera, regular digital cam, and a couple of disposable cameras! We will take tons of pictures.

I am also really excited because we have been invited to Club 33 at Disneyland. It is members only, and my FIL made arrangements for us through a friend. From what I understand, Club 33 was Walt Disney's private club for VIPs and it is decorated with rare memorabilia. It is supposed to be an excellent restaurant. Hopefully my son will behave!

75 degrees! It's almost unimaginable. It is very sunny here...but it's 20 degrees! I have been digging deep in the closet to find some short sleeves and capris.

My DS has been packing his little backpack with what he calls his "Disney Stuff". He's got several movies, Mickey stickers and books, and his little stuffed Mickey. He is SO excited about the Jedi Training academy. He is a Star Wars nut. I think he's going to love everything, and he is just fearless about amusement park rides. I will be the one they have to drag along! :)

    Thanks,
    Jen

I live in Southern California just 15 minutes from Disneyland, and we're having gorgeous weather that's expected to last all week. We suffered a tremendous amount of rain just last week so you're coming at just the right time.

It's a good time for your DS to visit. My 6 year old daughter visited Disneyland for the first time just last year on her 5th birthday. It was an entire day experience and we started out at 9am having breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen ($$ but totally worth doing at least once since all the characters come to your table and visit with the kids, take pictures, etc., and the food's very good). We didn't think our daughter would make it past 2pm but she surprised us and we ended the day at 10pm after watching fireworks. 13 hours at Disneyland was quite an experience!

We've since gotten annual passes and visit for just a few hours at a time here and there, but that day was unforgettable for my daughter.

I would suggest having lunch at Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney, rather than eating in the park. The food's good (and doesn't cost much more than the fast food in the park) and kids love the ambiance, with the robotic jungle animals periodically coming alive and all. You can take the skytram from Fantasyland and then take it back after.

If you go to California Adventure, be sure to see the Aladdin Show ~ it's really something special.
