Can I perform a DIY upgrade on my Ademco security system?

We have an older Ademco home security system. Door and window contacts work fine but the motion detector is the older variety that isn't pet friendly. I'd like to upgrade that to a motion/IR sensor. Can I just upgrade the one sensor? And will any brand of wired sensor work?

Since you have patiently waited for 18 days for a response here I would ay you may try.

Yes, you can do this just by replacing the sensor. I bought a new PIR sensor via the internet and installed it. It just takes some fiddling with the blocking pattern to get the sensing area to be what you want it to be.
