Cable Box and Insects

I just brought home a cable box that looks like itÃ¯Â¿Â½s been used and in someone elseÃ¯Â¿Â½s home. IÃ¯Â¿Â½ve heard horror stories about infested boxes infecting the home its brought into. I put the box in a plastic bag and plan to let it sit overnight to see if anything is living in it. Is there anything else I can do?

gasp? you were expecting new cable box? pour some bleach in large tub of water. soak it for a few hours. good as new.

Except that the odds of it working have been reduced close to zero.

Bleach is not going to be friendly to electronics.
