Hi I need help on embroidering letters

I just started embroidering letters in backstitch. I print out the phrases in the computer font i like...question is...is there another way to get it onto my fabric besides tracing with a heat transfer pencil? It just doesn't come out neatly enought? Could I make my own iron ons? any suggestions?

Have you tried ironing the computer paper right on to the item you are embroidering? I would think that some of the ink would come off the paper unto the item. That is just my opinion. Colleen
