These past two weeks . . . .

Things have to get better from here.

I was so looking forward to Spring Break to relax, catch up on work from home, go to my favorite Zumba class that's held during the day, maybe even hit the mall. I got the flu. Badly. Yes, I got the flu shot, but I got a strain not in the flu shot. I was sick the entire week and only left the house briefly on that Friday. I also ended up with bronchitis from it.

Looking forward to conference last week in Hilton Head. DH took time off, and we were looking forward to spending quality time together, especially since I was sick the whole previous week. His car got rear-ended coming home from work the day before we were supposed to leave,--luckily he is fine, but he spent the entire Wed dealing with that, so I left by myself.

It was freezing at HHI. Glad I packed my fleece and windbreaker. OTOH, the sea air was still wonderful, and walking on the beach probably did make me feel better.

Our 15-year-old cat, who has been stable for years, has been in declining health over the past month and especially the last week, so DH even debated about leaving him. Well, he did just for Fri-Sat. MIL checked in. When we came back, clearly little kitty was going downhill fast. We had hoped he would pass away at home, but we had to take him to our vet today to be put down. Our worst fear was that he would be so weak and not die on his own. Today is our vet's last day before she goes out on maternity leave. She and the other staff were wonderful.

Luckily, I have supportive coworkers and I was able to cancel my classes for today.

We only have one more month of school left. Please let this semester be over. I am hoping to start a meditation type of class before I lose my mind. Luckily, there is an information session this week at the local hospital.

Here is a pic of little kitty from Thanksgiving a year ago. He was a total character, DH's little buddy and spent most evenings curled up in his lap. We are both taking this hard. Luckily, we still have one other cat at home.

ah, so sorry about your cat, he's a cutieâ¦.

you've certainly had it rough lately, it makes me wonder sometimes why things happen that way.

So sorry about your kitten, I lost mine last February and know how sad you must feel. And I had the flu/bronchitis thing during January and February. I think even now my energy level hasn't fully bounced back.

But I hope some things start going right for you soon, so you get a chance to rest and heal and feel better.

Oh what rotten news. So very sorry about your cat. We lost two within a months time earlier this year.

Hoping you're on the road to recovery-being sick is the pits. School is almost done for the year-so hoping you do get some relief.

Sounds like you have had a couple of rough weeks, I'm glad your husband is ok from the accident and you are on the mend, but so sorry that you lost your beautiful Kitty. We have a 21 year old cat that my husband can't seem to part with though I know the poor guy has reached "that" point. We love our animals so much it is just so difficult to say good bye.

You have had some troubles, haven't you? I'm so sorry. I hope the next two weeks and beyond are much better.

Jeez, the flu, a car accident, bad weather and the cat died. What a bunch of bummers all at once.

Your cat was cute. Sounds like he lived a long, good life. Still, it's hard to let them go.

Here's hoping better times are ahead.

Oh, poor kitty. And poor you.

I gotta ask, did the cat jump on the turkey?

I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet kitty and everything else you have been going through. I hope things start looking up for you.

Thanks you, everyone, for your kind words.

During the conference they host a 5K on the beach, but I could not participate this year. I will need to get my fitness endurance back, but I am just walking right now.

No, he did not dive into the turkey. He sure would've loved to, though! We just got the photo op and then brought him down. Thanksgiving will not be the same without him. It's his favorite day of the year.

    That is a fantastic photo!

Troubles seem to come 3 in a row.

Keep your eye on the prize for getting through all of this: meditation class, something to relax and refocus you. A lot of people under stress just keep going and going, without realizing that they need to take care of themselves first before they do more for others. Clearly you see this, and that shows a lot of strength and focus. So just hold on tight!

One of the things I got out of the conference was the effects of stress on the body. The one speaker Dr. Michael Roizen (the Real Age guy) said it should be up there with Tobacco as far as workplace health promotion is concerned, even before nutrition and physical activity. I had to introduce a speaker who teaches Mindfullness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at Duke University, and I was very intrigued by her session. It was great to see there is a local class here.

The one positive thing about the flu was that I *had* to stay home and rest.

It is nice to finally be able to hug and kiss DH again.

We are so glad we have another kitty. Coming home to a cat-less house would be even worse.

So sorry for your bad spell...trouble does seem to come in bunches, no? So sorry you lost your kitty....they so become part of our lives....

So sorry for your sad news.I know how hard it is to lose a furbaby.
The pic reminds me of a new little kitten we had when we were kids. Early one Thanksgiving morning my DM actually discovered the kitten inside the raw 25lb. turkey on the counter! She washed out the turkey and stuffed and cooked it and didn't say a word. She told us what happened the next year. We thought it was hysterical.

Sending along hugs and deepest sympathy for your loss ....

We grieve with you both ....

I am sorry for your loss. Seems like a few people I know have had a rough few weeks lately. Is there something going on with the moon, or what? I hope you continue to feel better.

When it rains, it pours, but one thing is for sure, the sun always shines even after the worst of storms.

    Sending ((hugs))

Sending good vibes of comfort, and wishes for complete recovery so you can get back to your best self. So sorry to hear of the setbacks, and especially sorry about losing your kitty.

The cat is giving the turkey a cat scan. What a great picture. I had to LOL about Thx being his favorite day.

Wow, you really hit a rough patch. I hope things improve rapidly and the school year ends on a high note.
