when are the sales?

Hi,

I've enjoyed getting educated about furniture through this forum.

I'm shopping for a quality bedroom suite, new or used. As this is the first time I've even LOOKED at the higher end brands, I have a lot of sticker shock.

I'm getting the impression that the manufacturers have good sales once or twice a year--I happened upon the current Henkel Harris sale, which is 45% off now through mid March (and still seems expensive!). I fell in love with the new Piedmont line from Statton Furn., and signed up for the "sales" email notification--but how long will I have to wait? I also found some pieces from Henredon that would work--when will they have a sale?

Do manufacturers usually run sales at the same time? Is there a good time of year to buy furniture, like buying on Dec 31 to get the best deal on a car?

Am I supposed to negotiate a price like you do with a car? How much below sticker should I be paying? I need the best deal (like most of us!)

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Hi....just call Statton and ask for Alicia...I purchased a bed from their warehouse sale before Christmas..I believe they have another one in the Spring, but I'm sure she will tell you...will be getting my bed on Monday..can't wait!

lizabeth 2008, if I e-mail Statton about a specific bed, will they give me the price or do I have to contact a dealer?

redsox24...I believe that they will only quote you a price during one of their warehouse sales...otherwise will refer you to a retailer..I paid appx $1300 for a queen pineapple post bed...thought that was reasonable considering you can pay $999 for a China-made not solid wood bed in a store...be sure you sign up for their sale email list on their website...

Lizbeth, $1300 sounds good to me--how much of a % off sale was this (i.e., what's the normal price, how much did you get off?)

spunky...I did ask that question...but can't remember exactly the figure...I want to say it was $3-4000 range...of course, if retailers actually get that much for the bed, I don't know...could be that they're always discounted somewhat...furniture prices are puzzling to me...anyway, assuming I love the bed like I think I will, it feels like a good price to me, (also paying $200ish for shipping, but no tax).
