Wall to wall seagrass carpeting

Has anyone used seagrass carpeting wall to wall? We are considering it for our bedrooms. We have used a seagrass rug and understand it is not as soft as other carpet. We like the way it looks good year after year and doesn't "ugly up" the way other carpet does. Hope we won't be sorry.

We did install the sea grass and have been extremely happy with it. It still looks amazing. Of course it’s not soft like other carpet but we have adjusted to that. You can always lay something over it. We think the tradeoff is minor when compared to how great it still looks after 7.5 years!

There was a lot of talk on the Cote De Texas blog about this.
They have some lovely pictures of seagrass there as well.
I think it sounds interesting...but I could never do it myself as my cat would think I had laid down a scratch pad over the entire house for him. :)

art teacher, thanks for this. Funny you should mention this blog because my daughter introduced me to it, and I love reading it. She actually lives in Joni's (the blogger/decorator) neighborhood and her house was recently the "little bungalow" Joni talked about. She is using sea grass in the house they are working on now and has convinced me (I think) that this is the way for us to go. We are building a house. I'm a former teacher--retired 3 years ago. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Oh that's so great to hear! I was just thinking that maybe I was going too far with that idea, and thinking about maybe a white berber for softness under foot, but I really love the seagrass look! And it is unique!

Can anyone recommend the best place to order seagrass carpeting that is not outrageous? We are installing in our upstairs hallway and bedrooms. Thank you (North Carolina)!
