I'm moving into a small rental next month. It's has old (I'm guessing 1930s or 40s) dark wood paneling in the living room and dining room. I happen to like the paneling but am very perplexed as to how to decorate. The feel is very cabin-like, but I want to decorate in very feminine colors. The hall and bedroom are baby blue. I was thinking golds, pinks, oranges, and yellows, possibly pastel shades to match the blues in the other rooms. My mom is giving me an old sofa with dark wood trip and goldish upholstery. I'd like to use it as is without reupholstering, but don't want it to look out of place. I also have golden yellow dupioni silk paneled curtains from my previous home and would like to use those. Any suggestions for making the space feminine while maintaining the dark walls?
