jeane, so nice of you to ask! June has had the upper respiratory infection, as you know, and the first antibiotic didn't work, so the vet sent us home with another stronger one. So, she has finally stopped retching completely! She had a temp for about 2 weeks or so. Glad it didn't end up being asthma.

I haven't had time to even look for another one. I did call about one, but it was gone already, and haven't taken the time lately. We are going on a short vacation for about four days, we may take June with us? Not sure what to do about that. Any advice??

We have a weekend lake cabin and we take our three cats with us every weekend. If you ever want to take your cat in the car like that I think it's a good idea to start early and do it regularly so they get used to it. Ours just ride in the car - no carriers. They mostly sleep - one or two on my lap. The newest, youngest one is the most active in the car or anywhere else.

We rarely go anywhere, but when we do, we have a sitter come in and stay with my Mom and the cats. Most cats do fine over a weekend, but I wouldn't trust a kitten alone in the house for four days. I think I would take her along, but make sure she is safely locked in the carrier any time you open the car door. They are really quick when they want to be. Also, you can't leave her in the car when you are in a restaurant or anything, because the temperature in cars rises so quickly in the summer. We used to travel with pets, and we would always go thru drivethrus to eat. So it just depends on where you are going. Since she's just recovered from a respiratory infection, I wouldn't want to board her. If you have someone who can stay at your house, that would probably be the best solution if you don't take her with you.

Is there a friend or relative who could check in with her? I've always swapped cat-sitting with friends or now MIL.

If you are in a hotel, be sure to call about pet policies. Some hotels are pet-friendly.
