The roof and walls will color up like that over time. It is a tin roof and cedar siding, they just get that look with age and no sealants.

it is possible to create the look/feel of the barn doors and rusted metal wtdoor exposure. the faux finish approach can be effective on existing doors where you do not have clearance to apply aged barnwood.

Thank you for sending me this info.. I do have the rusted metal from a old barn installed. I am thinking I will some day do my garage doors custom with the real deal, for now I think the faux finish approach would be a consideration for sure. ;)

can you tell me how the wood was applied to the garage doors? is it glued? Have you had any trouble with it separating from the metal door?

As I recall, the underlying door has a wood face and the weathered wood was screwed to the face of the supporting door and there has been no trouble with separating reported thus far.
