Golddust - Lord Daniel

Just wondering how Daniel, Sandy and the family are doing. Haven't heard anything for quite a while which I assume is good news. Any updates?

Daniel is getting his life back, which is very good. He isn't allowed to work for a year but he is slowly resuming his social life. Woo! It just isn't normal for a young man to be around mommy and daddy so much, even though that is a family of Saints. LOL!

Daniel has been back and forth in the hospital twice this summer but it's been short stays for technical issues, like them wanting to observe his reaction to his new medications and once for an infection at a wound site.
He's maintaining his weight between 138 to 141 pounds. That means he doesn't have to eat all the time so there is less chance for a blockage in his illeo.

Sandy and Bob have been enjoying a more normal, empty nest almost, lifestyle now that Daniel can mostly be alone or even go out and about a little. She called me the other day to see if I wanted them to buy me some tomatoes as they were driving to a farm...

We keep our fingers crossed and live one day at a time with that young man.

Thank you so much for asking!

Really amazing. There were moments I was so afraid. Nice to know they have a semblance of normal again. Please send my regards.

I know, amy. Even his Drs at UCSF said the same thing. What a terrible time that was. Makes me teary just thinking about it.

Don't we all enjoy a bit of good news, wow that is just great. So happy for him!!!

I'm glad to hear he's doing well!

This is so wonderful to read. I figured he was doing better but had no idea how *much* better--that weight gain must feel like he's been given a new lease on life. Here's to many happy years of slow uneventful weight gain and muscle rebuilding for his Lordship, along with release from acute scary episodes for everyone in the family. Thanks for starting the thread, natesgramma!

Thank goodness Daniel is doing better!!!!! Our many prayers have been answered. What's the next step for Daniel?

Daniel's new medication seems to be working on his Bechets. He is in his second month of treatment with new medication.

The next step is to continue healing his almost healed surgical wound, continue reducing the prednisone, continue with physical therapy toward regaining his strength. He actually helped his dad build a fence yesterday (3 hours).

LD's surgical wound heals, then opens up again because high doses of prednisone prevent healing. Right now he has a smallish scab but they are slowly bring his dose down.

Then.... some time in the future, he'll get his iello bag removed! Woo!
