Yes.. I had tried making it and it wasn't working correctly for me (the pattern) It was sometime later that I found a site that had corrections for the book and there was a correction for the alien scarf pattern.
(it wasn't just me...whew!)
I'll see if I can find that site and pass it on...

"Alien Illusion Scarf: In early printings of the book, the colors in the chart are reversed. The first two rows of the chart should be knit in the Contrast Color (green), the next two in the Main Color (black), and so on."

It seems to look better if you knit fairly tightly, and maybe even use a needle smaller than called for the particular yarn

I tried it, but it just wasn't very soft like i imagined so i ripped it out.
