Slowing Down?

Is it just me or do things seem to be moving a bit slow in this forum? I know I haven't been doing much knitting these days, I suppose everyone else has found something else to do too, since the weather is warming up. Nonetheless, I still check in everyday to see what's going on. Right now I am working on socks. They are turning out pretty good. I'm still struggling at making socks, but I am getting better and I find that it gets easier with each sock. I may even end up with a bonafide pair this time. I'll post them in the gallery for you all to see when I finish them. I haven't been knitting much because I've been having an arthritis flare up that has been very painful. Now today, it's pretty good, so I'll probably get some knitting done. Knit on!

I thought it was just me - I also check in daily to see what others are doing. Maybe it is the warmer weather but I know I am still crocheting but definitely slowing down. I am probably going to start some crochet cotton projects instead. I am tired of all these baby blankets I've been working on but still need to finish this one in the Baby Softee denim blue marl. However, I did promise an Elmo blanket for August and a sweet stripes one for a colleague. I know what you mean about arthritis - I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis 22 years ago and I think that is one reason I try to keep my hands active. I think that this may be the only real exercise these joints get! I've thought about trying crochet socks so maybe that should be next. Looking forward to seeing your finished pair.

Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie here, but I love to crochet and try to do some year round, mostly every day. Lately I'm working on purses, but because of DH's work we are going to be moving soon. So, today I had the fun task of trying to organize and pack my yarns and unfinished projects. I wish I could find a better storage method, for some reason I had several ends of threads all knotted together in the middle of a basket (it made a very colorful knotted ball), and if I had more time I would probably have tried to unravel it all, but in my rush to pack I was forced to take scizzors to it :o(. Any one have any yarn/project storage methods - lol. I was working on doilies (remember those? - may be someday they'll come back in fashion) but for some reason a few of them are still unfinished (just the last few rows to do on each). I've finished a few purses I could post in the gallery if I get time tomorrow (posted one already), and I am working on a cotton bedcover for my DD's bed (I've calculated that the rate that's going, it will be about 2+ years to finish) - it's a pattern I found @ crochet pattern central called the Stafford Bedspread. BTW I admire any one that can make socks or other garments, I used to try and make simple slippers but I don't have a steady tension in my work and inevitably first slipper's bigger than the second. Well, I will keep on checking in here, I am inspired by all your ideas and advice, and hope to help others as well if I can. Liz

Good luck on the move. I checked out the bedspread - very nice - I admire anyone who is willing to work with crochet thread. I find it difficult so I get frustrated and look for something else to do. Give me the sport or 4 ply cotton and I'm fine. I know you're busy but here is a link to an easy crochet slipper sock pattern I found a few years ago. One Christmas I made 15 pair and my nephews have asked for more. They are in the 20's with big feet (size 13) so I generally use a larger hook size (I) and add some rounds and rows - use my husband's socks as a guide (he's a 10 1/2). The following year it was plastic bag holders and then last year it was wine bottle covers. Also a great way to use up leftover yarn.

I remember the Knitting Forum slowed down last spring also. I think everyone is out in the yard, planting, weeding, enjoying the longer days.

I'm making a bunch of 7x9 rectangles for Warm Up America. I'm just about to pack it all away for the summer except for a small sock project to take on a trip.

Thanks P_Susan for the slipper pattern - i like it a lot, simple and nice at the same time, ironically I have to make some for myself first - lol - I keep meaning to buy some and then DH would always say, you can make those! At least they'll be much quicker to make than that bedspread - lol. Liz

Those are the cutest slippers, but darn, I don't crochet. I knitted a couple of pairs of slippers back in January for my Christmas trunk. I used the Aunt Maggie's pattern that I found on here. They turned out pretty cute and are so easy to make. As far as crocheting goes, I tried about 10 years ago and did conquer the chain stitch, but I couldn't keep the tension on my hook consistent so I gave up. I should try again because there are a lot of knitting patterns that finish off with a crocheted edge or something. Maybe someday I'll learn.

I'm crochetting/knitting MORE now that it's spring (and finals are almost over!).

Unfortunately, I also quilt and that's been taking up more of my time because it's not so hard on my hands.

I'll post some stuff in the gallery when I get home from running errands, and to the LYS. They have a huge sale this week!!!
