How do I prevent this?

I am knitting a striped baby sweater from Bernat Softee Baby Yarn. The first 4 rows are knit, using 4mm needles. It then changes to 5mm needles and the next 6 rows are stocking stitch in a contrasting color. These 10 rows are repeated for the rest of the piece ( all on 5mm needles). It looks quite nice but it appears the first rows of plain knitting are going to curl up. Is there anyway I can keep it from doing that?

Should it be all right if I lightly press it after it is all assembled?

Thanks for suggestions
