Here's how you bind off. Knit the first stitch you want to bind off. You have one stitch on your right hand needle. Now knit the next stitch, and using the tip of the left hand needle, pull the first stitch over the second one and off the right hand needle. You have one stitch on your right needle. Now knit the next stitch and then pull the 1st stitch on the right needle over this new stitch. You just keep going like that. Hope this helps.

Hay that is a wonderful link. I got the binding off all done ok but I don't think I cast them back on right. I didn't do it like they did in the button hole. I went on to the end and then came back and cast them on one at a time. I think thats what it said to do. It don't look just right. To loose. It will not show any way so I guess it is ok. I should never have to ask for directions again. Thanks for both of your help. Judy

Yes, knitted buttonholes can look loose.
