Yes, an indoor grill can be great! But it adds literally thousands (10K +) to a kitchen redo to be able to do properly. That's often a difficult return on investment to justify. If you've done all of the thinking and whole system budgeting, and still want to go for it, be prepared to clean a lot more, and never really get it pristine. It will always be a grill, just like your one you have outside, but in your kitchen. Easy to clean and a grill is an oxymoron. Not only are they difficult to keep clean, they are expensive and difficult to vent properly. If you live in a cold climate, you will need to have makeup air with an ERV engineered to go along with that powerful vent. If you live somewhere warm enough that you don't need the ERV, then you probably have warm enough weather to grill outdoors all year.

I think I am the only one here who has had good luck with a JennAir. I've had it for twenty years - use ot 2-4x per week - and it still looks fine. Granted, it is electric, so you don't have the flames burning things on. Cleaning it is not my favorite thing, but I wouldn't say it's that hard.

I cannot live without a grill indoors anymore and am looking at options as mine is dying. Will you want gas or electric? Have you seen Miele's modular cooktops?
