If you can knit, I highly suggest you use large needles and knit every row. To crochet, you need to be able to see each stitch in the previous row, and with double strands of eyelash, you have made a difficult situation nearly impossible. I suggest that you feel with the pads of your fingers for the next stitch, but it will be very slow. Some here find they can improve the ability to crochet in eyelash if they use one strand of eyelash with one strand of regular yarn. As I say, I only knit eyelash, but regular yarn combines nicely with eyelash. I have used baby yarn and sport yarn with it successfully. (Now I am using a ball of Patton's Glitter in red with red eyelash for a holiday scarf for my DD.) I suppose double crochet might help you find each stitch, but it will still be a struggle. And I think eyelash looks great using small needles and medium needles and large needles and absolutely huge needles.

I might take up knitting again! If my daughter's friends clamor for these scarves.

What is working for me right now is very loose double crochets and feeling for the stitches.

I am now planning ahead to the next scarf with fun fur....I want to use a yarn with a sliver thread running thru it, I know I just read of someone useing that, I am looking on Joann...Lion Brand for some now...

Does anyone have the exact name for that kind of yarn?

crocheting matts down the fun fur way too much. i also use one strand of eyelash and another yarn. i prefer some yarn with bulk (like lion brand homespun, or jiffy), not just plain ole regular yarn to use with the eyelash. i also use size 15 or 17 needles. that makes up and fast & easy scarf.

It is the Patton's Glitter yarn. I found it at Michael's. I saw it in red, cream, blue, eggplant, and several other colors too. As I said above, following someone's suggestion here, I bought it in red and am finishing a scarf using red eyelash --16 stitches in stockinette on size 16 needles.

Sheilajoyce, I recently knit my daughter a ponchette with Patons Glitter in burgundy. It's nice to work with, isn't it? I also usually knit with the eyelash yarns, but recently crocheted a curly scarf with a 2-ply variegated yarn and edged it with the eyelash (Bernat Disco). The scarf was made a bit different than others I have done and it was much easier to use the eyelash with this pattern. Instead of crocheting "into" the stitches (treble crochet), you crochet "between" the stitches. It was one of those free patterns from Coats & Clark that hang in the yarn section of Michael's. I agree with Knitcrazy. You don't really get the full advantage of fun fur when you crochet with it. It looks much nicer when knitted.
