We own a Miele w4840/t9800 pair and they are very good machines. They are very well built and sturdy. The kind of unit that makes you smile when you use it.

We also own a recently deceased Bosch wfk2401 washer that was 10 years old.

Having owned both Bosch and Miele I would have to say the Miele is a better built machine, but the Bosch was ok as well. Bosch may have changed in the last ten years, but the unit we had held up well.

Miele is considere the top of the line, most reliable machine, but you will pay for that as well. This is a good time to shop for Miele. The W4840 is discontinued, but many stores still have inventory. Miele is currently offering a $200 rebate on these units.

Miele is also the only company that offers a full 5 year warranty on their washers. Just make sure you have it installed by a Miele authorised installer. I know of no other manufacturer that offers that length of warranty in the US. In the UK, Miele offers a 10 year warranty. I guess it is cheaper to service the UK than the US.

In any event, those warranty lengths should tell you want Miele thinkgs of their customers and their equipment. The only downside is once you own a Miele anything you will want more of their items. If you buy the washer and dryer, you will then want one of their vacuums.
