help! help! question about heat pump

I have a 3 yr Bryant oil furnace. I have estimates to install a new gas furnace - Trane XL 90 = $4,200; XL 95 =$6,700,Armstrong = $5,900 & Rheem 90% modulating = $4,420. All consultants mentioned using heat pump but no explanation. Last guy explained in detail how heat pump works with a Trane X14 (4ton) for $7,500. I just read about the 40C but he said my cut over temp is 20C. Says I would full my tank every 3 years (550gal). says annual heating bill would be $2,100

I need more estimates for the heat pump.

Hi, i'm not so sure what your set up is. Heat pump is basically using electricity to warm your home instead of using gas so your gas bill will cut down. We can help you with more heat pump choices like trane, carrier, york, payne, goodman, day $ night etc. Email us if you like more info. admin@gsistore.com

A heat pump is a central a/c unit that also produces heat in the winter because it can reverse the refrigerant flow. Heat pumps produce cheap heat. They require aux heat when outdoor temps get to 32F or so.

You can install a heat pump and still keep your fairly new (only 3 years old) oil furnace as back-up or auxillary heat when needed. Or you can get a new gas furnace to go with the heat pump. Either option is dual-fuel. Keeping the fairly new oil furnace, even though oil is at an all-time high, saves you the upfront cost of the gas furnace.

Lots to consider.

Good luck.
