Question:

Does the kitchen backsplash have to match with the counter and only the countertop or with both countertop and floor?

Hi again mtv..

Maybe I should expand on that! I think if you have tile flooring, than your backsplash would need to not clash with it. My flooring is Pergo Red Prairie Pine, so I didn't try to compliment the 2 elements. I just tried to make sure my backsplash and counters didn't clash...

We're almost at that point as well... our counters will be a darker slate gray color (speckled with some tans/browns that will reflect the color of our cabinets - it's a Corian countertop), and we think we want to continue those same colors into the backsplash. But then the floor is another story! I do NOT want a dark floor because they always look so dirty to me and show every speck of dust. We have 2 kids and a dog. I hope a lighter neutral tan floor tile looks good in our space!
