Ok it's not a cooling button thing. However, the fact that the dryer is not really drying my clothes is a very real issue. The good news is that when I called LG- twice- last night, they have customer service people who are working at midnight- and they are even American!

The bad news is that despite the things they told me to do- the dryer still isn't drying my clothes as it should. I'm having to dry the clothes LONGER than I did with my old cheapy dryer. It's unacceptable to me that I've paid $1000 for a dryer and I'm still having to stay up late at night to make sure I don't have to set the load one more time to get them dry. I'm sorry but after an hour on the Cotton dry cycle using mid heat and the very dry option, the clothes should be dry.

I'm wondering if it is an issue with installation? Late last night I had the laundry room door closed while I was drying and when I went in, it was quite humid in there. I live in a arid climate so extra humidity is quickly noticeable. Should I call LG again or Sears? All I know is that if this is the best that dryer can do- they can take it back. I'm not paying this much money for something that's not as good as the one I got rid of- and I got rid of it because the dry times were becoming so long.

My LG gas Dryer can dry a very heavy wet load in 30 minutes, easy. Less if I crank up the heat. Have you disconnected the venting and run a load without just to see if it is something other than the dryer? Open the windows and the door to the room to let out the humidity. BTW, what icon are you talking about? where is it?

It's not really an icon. It's the word "cooling" that flashes next to the digital timer. My dryer only displays "cooling" during the last 10 minutes of drying. It still sounds to me like the problem is an obstruction of some sort in either your dryer duct or perhaps in the dryer itself. I've never had a problem with excess humidity in the laundry room while the dryer is running. Only when I've run a dryer without the venting connected did I notice lots of humidity in the room. Even though you had your ducts professionally cleaned, I would still check to see if something isn't stuck somewhere in the ducting.

Did anyone ever get this understood. I had my DLE7177 temporarily installed in the garage until our laundry room was finished and then professionally installed in the Laundry-room. As soon as it was installed it began not cooling well. I can run for 2 hours on cotton and it does not completely cool the clothes.

Then I would guess it would be something having to do with the installation, don't you think?

Hi bindersbee, did you ever resolve the issue with your dryer? I am having the exact same trouble.

Have you noticed drying to degrade over time or has it never dried to your satisfaction? How old is your dryer? Electric or Gas?

The drying has degraded over time. The unit is about 6 months old, LG electric. We had the ducts cleaned yesterday but the clothes still aren't drying.

It can be the sensor. We replaced our last year and it works great.

My LG also not drying and the cooling light remains on the whole time. We cleaned all vents and this did not solve the problem. My dryer is 4 years old but I would certainly hope it has a longer life than that or our planet is going to have to hold a lot of old tossed out dryers on it.

Problem solved. The Home Depot installers apparently broke my attic vent when installing and the dust has been going into my wall and attic building up.

I own two LG dryers and they both take forever to dry.

Hate this cooling option that I can't seem to deactivate on my new dryer......if I had wanted cold clothes, towels, etc....I wouldn't put them in a dryer. Sometimes my 6 year old likes to warm up a towel for when she gets out of her bath....instead we get a COLD Towel! UGH!!!!! Sending mine back to the store. Not for me! Also, the washer sounds like a jet taking off in my house, I'm having to work from home due to COVID and I have to take my conference calls in the back of the house when the washer is running, FREAKING REALLY! Nope paid too much money for this crap. Going back tomorrow!

Bindersbee you are my hero. I’m sitting up waiting for clothes to dry wondering why a cooling light is on when my clothes are still wet after several cycles and here’s this perfect post and replies. I added the wrinkle guard option (side buttons) and things are looking up. Hope all loads don’t take 2+ hours to dry but looks like I’m SOL according to the other posts.

Are any actual answers on this pages, or just pages of bitching?
