Hi all - My wife and I are updating our late 1960's SoCal home. We have this corner gas fireplace we want to update but can't for the life of us figure out or agree on how to do it. It's a strange design with large "pillars" on either side and an inverted face. It's been a challenge trying to figure out how to make it look good because the design isn't very standard. The fireplace is in the living room and is a natural focal point. Our style is rustic-contemporary but we like modern accents. I'm very handy and can do masonry work so I'm not scared to tackle a moderate redesign but we don't want to rip the whole thing out and redo it from scratch. Any ideas on how we can refresh this hopeless fireplace?
