hello,

we are building a (2) story addition to our colonial. family room and master bedroom.

i am tired of schleping window a/c units from bedrooms every winter.

i am thinking of having a mini split system installed.

looking at the sanyo multizone - (1) in family room/open kitchen, (1) in each of 3 bedrooms.

total house will be about 2500 square feet.

1. how many tons do i need for the outdoor unit - remember, will generally not be running the downstairs and all 3 upstairs at same time.

2. thinking 12,000 btu for family room/kitchen and 9,000 each for bedrooms

3. what do you think of the sanyo vs mitsubishi?

4. ive been looking at prices. what is fair installation price? thinking of having my general contractor install while he "builds" the addition. should i let the contractor purchase and install? or should i purchase vuia internet and have him install?

thanks for your help
