Makeup air question

We are installing a cooktop & grill which will require good ventilation. The appliance people recommended a 1600CFM external blower setup with makeup air delivered under and in front of the cooktop. I was talking to my builder about placement of the external blowers and he suggested that rather punch a second hole in the side of the house that we pull the makeup air from the unheated space under the roof. Does this seem like a good idea?
